Why is nobody talking about Peppers?

Yeah we got too many damn linebackers already. If the Panthers think he'll be a great SS and Adams is off the board, its not totally outside the realm of possibility. I don't think the Panthers would pick him over Fournette or Cook if they're all sitting there at 8 though.

No, not Julius... Jabrill. I see Adams and Hooker both mentioned here in addition to other obvious names as possibilities at #8, but nobody talks about the possibility of Peppers here. I understand some of the questions are whether he's an OLB or a SS but he's actually slightly smaller than Adams and to me profiles as a SS right in the mold of Eric Berry, who everyone here would love to see a Panther. I remember being all about Landon Collins in '15, I wanted that kid so badly. When he was taken by the Giants I knew they had a steal because that guy could've and should've been a top 10 pick. Peppers looks better than he did to me. I like Adams better but more possible that he's gone, and I like Hooker but he's a FS and Peppers is a SS which we need more with Kurt already here. Peppers is a football player. Put him at SS in a zone and he can cover like an Earl Thomas, put him in the box and he's going to demolish the HB behind the LoS before you can say Jack Robinson. He's a playmaker and will make plays on the ball like Collins did this year.

Peppers isn't my favorite choice at 8, would rather have Adams or Fournette. But there's a possibility both those two are gone as well as the top DEs, and if Peppers is sitting there I think he's definitely worth a top 10 pick.

Not trying to make the case that he should be THE pick. But he should be in the conversation along with the other guys we've talked about extensively here at #8.

If you mentioned those players are gone then we are going to go OJ Howard .

Its either RB/TE

If you remember, Taylor Mays was like 6'8" 280 lbs. with 2% body fat and ran a 4.1 40, and always got a chance because of his "potential"....but he is just a terrible football player.

Not saying Peppers is that poor, but you just don't draft a raw athlete with the 8th pick. I'd be all over him in the 2nd/3rd though. Why the hell not at that point.

Why do people think he's raw? He was a monster on the field everywhere they put him. It's not like he's just got physical tools. He's a baller on the field. He's not getting attention because of potential. He's already well on his way to reaching his unbelievably high ceiling.

Hahaha, some of you guys are really reaching.

Howard isn't going to beat out Hooker, Barnett, Adams, Fournette, Allen, Thomas or Taco. Not a chance. OJ is not worth being drafted 8th overall just because he shined at the National Championship.

He want beat Fournette but he will beat all of those guys.

I don't know what role he plays here. He seems like a shaq thompson type player. I don't follow college, but looking at highlights (which i know is not a good way to gauge a player) there is no tape of him in coverage. I'd want a safety who can cover. If Adams is there, I think he is both better value and a bigger need. Good in the box, good in coverage, could play SS and we could move coleman to FS. Just don't know if he's there. I also really like Hooker, but he is more of an FS I think so Coleman would need to stay SS which is less ideal.

I don't want a project at pick 8 no matter how good of an overall player he is. He'd probably be a good late 1st rounder or 2nd-3rd rounder but if you're picking in the top 10 I don't think its a good idea.

I mean what position is he going to play? He can't do everything like he did in college, in the NFL I'm guessing. I'd guess the Panthers would try to make him primarily into SS and have him be the primary KR/PR dude.

But if we're drafting at 8 then we're much better off getting Adams , Hooker, or whoever the best CB is one of those 3 is pretty much guaranteed to be at 8 and if they're not that means someone else of super high value dropped to us.

A lot of mocks have him going to a playoff team late in the 1st which makes sense. If he ends up being good I could see him being a Tyreek Hill of defense essentially. If a team is willing theyll let him play saftey, cornerback, linebacker, KR, PR.

Wow. He'd be a good pick in the first, second or third round? You should be getting paid for this insight.

    • He should've been more than a JAG, but Jeremy Chinn.  I was convinced he was our next defensive star
    • I see what you did there
    • Yeah the only way current set up is fun is if every year a different tiny school builds a super team and makes a run. You just need 1 rich guy to say you know what would be funny, if I drop 30 million and my school has a shot at a national championship.   They won't ever do it but put some sort of tiered salary cap in place and sign them to 4 year deals. You can only transfer up or down tiers no lateral moves because mean ole coach at texas doesn't play me enough so I'm going to Tennessee. So a player at prairie view can transfer to texas and get paid more or a player from UNC can transfer to UNCG because he isn't getting playing time. If a guy is transferring "up" he can get a salary bump if the team has salary cap space. A guy transferring down has to stay at the same salary as he signed his 4 year deal for so the lower tier team would have to have the cap space to sign him. It would stop the money chasing for lateral moves but allow guys who improve massively at lower schools to make more money as juniors and seniors and hopefully keep more guys in one place because the contract is for 4 years.
