What is your first round draft priority (DE, RB, Safety, etc.) and why?

Hypothetically, if there is a RB, a DE, and a Safety that are each perfectly worthy of our first round draft pick at number 8, which position would you go with?

Personally, I think I favor going with the pass rusher (DE) as I feel that an elite pass rusher is more valuable than an elite running back or safety. I think if you have a three down defensive end, he has more opportunity to impact each play relative to these other positions. That said, I concede that our offense could probably use more help than the defense. However, if we were to land an elite pass rusher at #8, we could use other high draft picks to bolster our offense.

If Fournette is there, he's my priority. The only player in this draft I'd take over Fournette for our roster is Myles Garrett.

This and I don't know if I would take Garrett over him.

Paired with Cam for the next decade... could be a dynasty maker.

No other player has that potential to make that kinda impact

If there was a pass rusher projected to have an equally successful career as it looks like Fournette will, I'd take them. If there is one that good, no way they make it to 8. Fournette appears to be our best hope for an absolute steal at pick 8.

Fournette is not only a rare talent and touted as one of the best to come out at his position in a decade but he also plays a position where we could see immediate divedends from our 1st rounder like we always did until the last couple years.

I wouldn't be mad at getting Fournette in the slightest, I do think he's a top player in the draft and the best offensive weapon in round one. I guess I'm just struggling to imagine how great he's going to be behind our o-line when Stewart is still a stud, even if not for every game in a season, and gets bottled up.

We're a running team, but I rarely ever see us break off big chunk runs like other teams do. We seem to have to grind 3 yard carries most of the way, and we're lucky to have Stewart for that.

Maybe that has to do with the evolution we're being promised. Until I actually see Fournette running over people in a Panthers jersey I'll have a hard time believing it can happen to the extent we realize his total value as a player.

That being said, I think Jamal Adams would make us into an elite defense for the foreseeable future alongside Luke, Shaq, Star, KK, and Bradberry. He's my 1a and Fournette is my 1b.

DE.  Its the only position that will make the most impact right away.  Fournette, hes gonna get backup minutes.  Saftey is going to take atleast a year to learn the system carolina uses.  A top DE that can rush the good QB's we have in our division is a must.  Carolina has to stop other teams from scoring.  With KK and Star in the middle, Addison and top 10 DE in the draft, thats going to be a Dline that will crush offenses.  Carolina needs to get back to having a dominate defense.

Raoul Duke: Don't take any guff from these swine. If you have any trouble, remember, you can always send a telegram to the Right People.

Dr. Gonzo: Yeah, Explaining my Position. Some asshole wrote a poem about that once. Probably good advice if you have poo for brains.

I think Fournette needs to be the guy if he's there. He would take so much pressure off Cam and it would keep him healthy. Relying on Stewart to play more than 8 games a season is not a formula for success as much as I love him.

If he's not there I'd take a DE over a safety for the first round anyway.. We need to get more pressure from the front 4. Bradberry and Worley will be good corners. I think the secondary will be okay.

After that I'd look at S or WR.

Cam needs help y'all. The entire offense is running through his threat as a player. Which is fine but it can't live and die by him.

We're talking about fournette so much , that probably means there's no shot in hell we draft him lol .

Obvious answer to OP question is DE. But it's possible 2 or even 3 of them are off the board by the time we pick and at that point the value just isn't there . I think the Panthers big board for round 1 should look something like

1.Garrett (DE)

2. Allen (DT/DE)

3. Adams (SS)

4. Fournette (RB)

5. Hooker (FS)

6.Lattimore (CB)

7. S.Thomas (DE)

8. D.Barnett (DE)

And we're guaranteed to have at least one of them available because we are picking at 8. Any of those guys would be great I think . I'm pulling for Fournette because he is the best pick we could make round one to take pressure off Cam . I got sick of defenses teeing off on Cam all last year . I believe we need dominant , star offensive playmaker that defenses need to worry about other than Cam. None of our guys scare anyone.

With the exception of Kelvin Benjamin and maybe Devin Funchess, this organization hasn't done nearly enough to help cam out. You can not keep giving Cam late round , UFA, JAG , or washed up old man level talent and expext your offense to flourish on a constient basis. I want them to draft multiple players on offense in rounds 1-4 even if they only do it this year out of the first decade of Cams career (this coming season will be his 7th), but it'll never happen with this organization.

Also add in the fact that we probably won't be drafting this high again for a long ass time , they need to captilize on it and bring in at last a couple early round offensive talent .

The top priority would be LT, but this draft doesn't have what we need at #8. DE would be next, but there is no freakish superstar DE at #8. RB would normally be a lower priority, but Fournette is a freak of nature. We can't pass on Fournette at #8. He's a big pile of pure muscle that can fly and destroy anything he hits. He's a wrecking ball that can run away from defenders and leave them in the dust. Easy pick. The Panthers don't value the safety position, so don't expect a safety to be taken at #8.
