How Would You Feel About John Ross at #8?

Then picking a RB in round 2 or 3?

IMO, RB is a big need, but I don't think WR is as set as it appears, INCLUDING KB and Funchess.  With the lack of certainties at both positions, and a need for speed, and already confirmed interest in the owner of the fastest "official" timed 40 in the history of the combine, how would you feel of we took Ross at #8?

Obviously a lot could happen between now and the draft with FA, but guys with tape and measurables like Ross don't come along but so often.  Yes, he has durability issues, but if he stays healthy, he could be a gamechanger.  According to Mayock, he was already a first-round talent and after his combine, I expect him to shoot up to the Top 10.  So, why not?

And not to be a homer, but if we went this route and took Ross at #8, a guy I would keep in mind as a comparable prospect to Fournette that could be had later is UNC RB Elijah Hood.  He's a Panthers fan, a Charlotte kid, big, strong, athletic, and at times completely took over games with his powerful running.  

Ross and Hood with 1 and 2 (or 1 and 3) is what I'm now hoping for...  what say you?

Ross and Fournette are the only players I want in this draft. I'm leaning more towards Ross now though since this class is deep with Rbs and not so much with top end receivers. 

If we could trade up and land both I would jizz in my shorts.

Doesn't fill in any position of need, and Byrd is making strides. I don't think he'll be considered that high.

You can argue that the RB, TE, DE, and Safety class is deeper, but still you'd rather have an impact player that high, and there are many slot receivers in this draft we can hit on later

If Ross had been healthy, then I might begrudgingly be OK with it, but his injury history is too colorful for me to spend that type of draft capital on the often injured receiver. Gee whiz, he even injured himself running his 40. Good grief, people, he is about to have surgery on his shoulder.

If he's there in the second, maybe, but in general he's not the only play maker at the position.

You don't give up that kind of draft capital for a WR.  The Saints traded a 3rd that could have been Trai Turner to move from 27 to 20 to get the soon-to-be traded Cooks.

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
