Cap is the one that will be gone (I hope after we draft a ready to play now RB

While we are all excited about the draft, we can't count on rookies

Still hoping for church at safety, capt at nickel, and kali before the draft

Argument for another time but if it's Fournette I disagree.  Best RB prospect since whenever and #8 overall pick should replace a 30 year old 3.8 ypc injury prone back with an $8.5 million cap hit cold turkey.

Fozzy is 28 and people are acting like he's some youngin waiting for his chance to break out.

Stewie is 29 and people are acting like his career is over lol.

STs only again, which isn't bad but dood ain't poo.

Stewart should be playing every down when he's healthy and has 1200 receiving yards and 6 TD there...it's not his fault our offensive staff is....offensive. He can block and catch.

Fozzy shouldn't even be a 3rd down back except to spell Stew or when he gets injured.

Omg you guys severely overreact to bench players that know the system. There is something to be said for continuity

But there is nothing to be said for the losing. This team doesn't know when to go another damn direction.

Just a question..

Could we have honestly waited till after the 1st rush in FA's and the draft to sign fozzy if needed??

Is any other team beating down the Fozzy/Bersin/Horton door that we needed to lock them up??

HEEELLLLL NO.

Not as down on stew as you are (when he is healthy and playing)...but it would great if fournette comes in and turns into all that

Nothing against Stew at all, but the NFL is a puzzle to get bang for buck.  For years we have not at RB.

82 combined touches with 0 touchdowns last year.

He had at least 1 called back on KB's penalty.  Was that the Vikings game?  Because I listened to some games on the radio this past season due to awful internet, my memory of what plays happened in which games is much fuzzier than I'd like.

I seem to think there was a 2nd huge gashing run called back as well late in the season, but I could be wrong.

You should look up his statistics from the last three years. His longest run was only 25 yards, and his longest reception was 26.  He's had a total of 3 touchdowns in three years.

One of which helped us win the AZ playoff game in the 2014 season.

just because we signed him doesn't mean he makes the final roster next year

    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
