Out of all of the Defenders this was probably the one I was least looking forward to. The fist trailer didn't really do much for me either. Could still be good though give Marvel/Netflixs track record.

Hate to hear it, but Iron Fist was always one of the more boring Marvel heroes, and probably the least interesting Defender. His backstory in the Netflix series just strikes me as a Bruce Wayne rip-off and I can't remember how close it was to the original origins story.

And then there's the gritty tone that they want to add to the characters. It has been working, but when you try to convert the guy in the yellow headband/mask and ballet slippers into a gritty street level live action hero, you might be pushing your luck a bit. And they've had three hits so far. A clinker might be inevitable.

I'll still be tuning in to see it, though. I mean, I'm not going to miss a superhero movie or TV show if I can help it. I've been waiting since the 1970s for this stuff to finally mainstream!

yep... these seasons are just too long.  you really noticed it in Luke Cage as well.  it slowed down about half way through and then didn't have the legs to really come back from it at the end when they switched villains

tbh I really, really wanted to like Luke Cage but I still haven't finished it- just lost interest

Jessica Jones took me a few episodes but really had me hooked by the end and Daredevil season one was just fantastic. 

Daredevil season two- up till episode 4 was incredible as well- then it just tanked after that. 

My point is the Netflix Marvel shows have been trending downwards as of late. I'm hoping Defenders is as good as Avengers 1, because before that all we had was Iron Man 1 really.

Yeah, Jessica Jones was a bit of a slow build, but man, that gal can flat out wear a pair of blue jeans! Even Daredevil had slow spots.

Part of the problem, I think, is that in an attempt to be street level gritty, the shows don't have many light spots in them, which has been the hallmark of the Marvel movies. A laugh, once in a while, can be a very important part of drama. Leaving them out in an effort to say, "Let's all take this seriously" is what is killing the DC franchise movies. It, however, has worked wonders for shows like The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.

Supergirl... well, ummm, it did improve after they got rid of Callista Flockhart and quit trying to turn the show into Ally McBeal gets super powers and a terrible boss.

Daredevil season 1:  Started off great, had a lull in middle, finished great

Jessica Jones:  Great early, lull middle, fantastic ending (best Marvel villain to date IMO, on TV/movie, Kingpin too)

Daredevil season 2:  I don't remember a lot of lull here, I think it's the most complete season yet, I liked it throughout.

Luke Cage:  Started off great, good middle, but once you got past the first villain into the "main" one, it got meh.   

 

So what I really gather is, the origin seasons are going to be a bit bumpy.   And let's me honest, most of the movies were too.  With the exception of Iron Man 1 and Guardians, the others have flaws.  Thor 1, Cap 1, Ant-Man, Strange, Hulk, etc.    They have to spend so much time introducing and then throw a storyline in.    That's why I think Daredevil 2 was better.

I'm OK with the Netflix shows being gritty and not as funny.  That's the point, they can do that on there.   These characters need it honestly since they are fighting non-galactic baddies.

finished this last night as well... was sick all weekend, so perfect opportunity to be laid out on the couch and binge this thing

imo, I think this was one of the more consistent marvel series that Netflix has been done so far, and maybe that's because I was able to binge it so quickly.  now, i'm not saying it's better than the other series, it's certainly not, but I don't think it had the rollercoaster ride as much as, say, luke cage did

I was a little worried with the not-great reviews coming in from the screeners, so I think that also helped me be a little pleasantly surprised when it wasn't bad

with this supposed to be leading directly into defenders, i'm a little surprised that nobody else (DD, cage, jones) showed up at the end to tie things up a little and kick us off into defenders.  i'm also a little surprised that he didn't fully achieve his full power by the end of the series, but I guess that will give us something for future seasons and probably something for him to accomplish in defenders.  he'll probably end up being the most powerful of the defenders considering he actually has a substantial power

I also was hoping we'd see the dragon... I knew it wasn't likely considering this is supposed to be such a grounded universe, but that's kind of why I wanted to see it.  just wanted to see what they would do with that if they would have shown it

      This is from 5 months ago. It was one or the other. Trade for one or draft one. We apparently called the Jets about Wilson. We also talked to the Seahawks about Metcalf. Drafting our own guy was the best course of action given the required investment. Regardless now is the time for Bryce Young to produce. We are fourth amongst all teams in cap spending on the OL. Back to back first round picks at WR and multiple young TE draft picks now. Very solid and respectable backfield. New pieces across the defense. The time is now.

      That was just the worst time to have their worst game of the season. One key deal was the broncos guess the Panthers would NOT change any plays or flow to the game. Another key point overlook that bronco defense was truly one of the best in the NFL history. It was the best defense the Panthers faced that year, by far. They were not ready for it, but broncos were ready for the Panthers. Mix in that bad luck, poor refs showcase, and this is the golden boys last game........ Panthers needed to win by 20 and the broncos defense was not going to allow that.  Panthers were the favorites and I believe they also thought that it was going to easier than them destroying NFC playoff teams as they marched to the SB. I've heard darin Gantt say the play calls were to give remmers help, but for some reason the team never did it. During the year they never had that problem, so maybe never practiced giving help via TE/RB, or WR chip. Cam was superman that year, no need for any adjustments...... Until you meet a legendary defense with studs at all levels, Think about it, Peyton was throwing wingless dunks for the whole season, the defense had to carry his corpse to the SB. That's how good they were, not many defense are able to get to the playoffs and win a SB without decent QB play. If you recall the beginning of that defense took Tim Teblows and his non-throwing arse to the playoffs couple years before. That's insane the level of defense needed to overcome.
