We got better at every position other than WR

I'd love to know what we think of Corey Davis. I don't think that pick is out of the question if we like him. Our WR signings consist of a STer and a guy we just took a flier on. The fact Gettleman only signed Johnson to a one year deal speaks volumes. He usually goes with two year deals to protect us in case the player actually performs well.

I love the kid on the field but at No. 8?! I'm not to sure we would maximize our draft that way.

How's this for an unbiased review on our receivers from last year? Straight from Captain Munnerlyn himself:

Quote

“I think we just knew where Benjamin was the whole time. Funchess, we weren’t worried about him. It was Kelvin Benjamin,” Munnerlyn said to reporters after the game. “I’m just going to be honest. Me personally, and I never talk like this, but I don’t think he is that good, No. 17. So, we weren’t really worried about him. We were worried about Benjamin and Ted Ginn Jr. and Corey Brown. We knew they were getting the ball and receiving well. We just tried to communicate and make plays.”

If you can take care of roster deficiencies in FA you can draft BPA and don't have to reach.   I think we did that and don't believe we overspent.  One can argue on Khalil but I think it was the right amount given the market and our need.

We didn't ruin our cap on anything long term which is great.  Get an RB a DL,  WR and a utility knife for the o line or LB position in the draft.  They don't have to ball out immediately but if you can get two starter caliber (when I say caliber I mean they are capable of starting.  Doesn't mean they will day 1) guys you are good.  Easier said than done but I think you can concentrate on building your core now.

replying to your title, because thats the most inaccurate thing you said. Shepard and Johnson are younger and better than Brown and Ginn, and essentially play the same roles. we've gotten slightly better at WR, with the draft pending

Not only have neither of these guys shown anything to think they could be better than Ginn, neither of these guys are younger than Philly.

While I agree in hindsight my thread title was inaccurate that's only because I didn't add the caveat that I meant in terms of roster turnover not literally every position on the field.
