And again i got to keep saying over and over again .. Lack of oppourtunities compare to what KB and Ginn were getting when they weren't efficent.. In the same situation rookie KB got to fail and still get targeted and snaps..

Also Funch oppourtunities were coming from a rattled Cam.. Nobody can say Cam was always throwing a catchable ball this year..

Context..

How were KB and Ginn less efficient than Funchess?

You've made up your mind on this one and refuse to actually look at the numbers.

We will not take Ross at 8 no matter who is not there. U waiting on that to happen then u will be waiting a long time.

Uh ok

Yes the chances are slim but they're greater than 0. There are scenarios in which he'd be taken. Ross is most likely the 3rd ranked offensive player on the Panthers board

And lol at the 6 pages of blind rambling in this thread, jesus.

Zay Jones would be an incredibly smart pick by the Panthers.  He's big, faster and much more athletic than initially considered, and easily has the best hands in the draft.  In addition, he is a super high character guy, is extremely smart and well-spoken.

He impressed at the combine, and was by far the best WR at the Senior Bowl.

I was high on Dwayne Harris & Justin Hardy as well, but Zay is much more of a prototypical NFL WR than they were. Much more polished and a lot smarter. Even though Dwayne went to the Pro Bowl last year...

Zay is faster than most think on here. Trevon Brown has been the biggest disappointment for me at ECU. Dude killed on the 70 to 41 UNC game then he screws up.

I don't think he lasts to the bottom of the 2nd either. I'm not 100% confident he's there at #40.

Wouldn't surprise me either.  A lot of these people that expect him to last to the third round probably don't realize how many receivers tend to come off of the board early.

39.6% catch percentage. What more really needs to be said?

If you want more opportunities, earn them. Funchess didn't earn them. Given his actual production, I think the opportunities he got were generous.

Catch percentage is not the best way to judge a receiver as you should well know. Circumstance and the QB plays a part in that.

Everyone was down last year, and Funchess was one of the more efficient receivers in the league his rookie year (though admittedly not targeted a whole lot). Do I need to repeat that? Funchess was one of the more efficient receivers in the league his rookie year! Call it a wash, and give the kid some slack. We'll get a better understanding as to where he is (or not) in year three.

He seems to be a very safe pick with a very high floor.  Worst case you get a quality #2.

Every season this board complains about Cam not having receivers that can catch but then at draft time we tend to devalue that and focus on height and weight type of measurable.

His hands in college weren't just good they were great.  I wouldn't have a problem with him in the second and someone like Taywan Taylor or Switzer later for the slot.

I think most people would.  Not to be a "won't be there" poster but I would be shocked if half were actually there when you picked them :) but most aren't far off so who knows, maybe I'm a pessimist.

    • Seems to me that the Bucs have less fight in them now than they had in week 16. The real test is going to be if the Panthers can sustain focus and discipline throughout. With the Bucs being at home, maybe that gives them a little boost of confidence and energy.  Wouldn’t it be something if for ONCE the Panthers came out and dominated from the opening snap and just took this shook Bucs team to task?  If the Panthers see-saw form follows, we are in line for the W. Hard to say we have momentum but we do have a pretty clear pattern of following a loss with a win.  I’m going to say 24-16 Panthers!!
    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
