Report: Panthers Have Interest In McCaffery As Their 8th Pick

There's easily 15 guys you could make a case for as being better picks for the Panthers right now than McCaffrey.

Myles Garrett
Solomon Thomas
Jamal Adams
Leonard Fournette
Malik Hooker
Marshon Lattimore
Mike Williams
Corey Davis
Jonathan Allen
Derek Barnett
OJ Howard
Marlon Humphrey
Jabrill Peppers
Reuben Foster
Ryan Ramczyk

He's ahead of Davis, Ramczyk, and Foster on my personal Panthers Big Board right now, sitting at #13. But I don't take him at #8 when there are 4-5 other better/position of need players ahead of him no matter who is picked in the top seven. I've bought into the hype enough to move him from #41 to #13, so there's that. That's as high as he'll go though, and he could slide back into the 20's before draft day comes around as I do some more homework.

This is it peeps. The final turn in the wacky pre-draft maze. The realities of the players and other teams' big boards are leaking out.. McCaffery has risen to the top of our rumor mill like a fine cream.

Just as Star, KB, and Shaq before him, McCaffery has been named. We'll see what the future holds.

No he is not, easily the best.

I'm confused by your comma placement. Are you saying Williams isn't easily the best?

In my opinion, Mike Williams is the most complete/polished WR in this draft. He and Davis are the only two I would even consider in the first round, and Williams is top 10 worthy or just outside of it. Davis isn't far behind, but they are both better prospects than Christian McCaffrey, especially for the Panthers.

Here's a question. I'm sure some of the diehards here know one of the big reasons for drafting KB and funch is catch radius. Olsen is similar, they are have long arms, big hands, tall, above average vert.... Each have a huge area to receive a Cam Newton pass. It's taboo here to speak out against cam, but he's not very accurate. Even in his MVP season that was the case, so that brings us back to Danny wood...er a mccaffrey.

Mccaffrey has a poor catch radius. He's also got small hands(9") and short arms(30'). That is bad for a guy who's mainly a slot. He would expose a weakness and before long fans would turn on cam. After about 60+ giant air mails, people would still blame Shula, then slowly turn on cam.

Yet Steve Smith and Ted Ginn put up numbers with inaccurate Cam

And maybe if Fozzy was as good as McCaffrey he would get the ball in his hands more, but he's not.

You know it and I know it.

That's like saying we shouldn't draft OJ Howard because we under utilize Dickson.

Would he? I mean we throw bubble screens to Bersin
