We are in trouble if we don't draft

a RB and TE that can start from day one, even if they don't have to.  Last year, Stewart was dinged up and the OL was injured and just plain bad.  The only offensive spark we had was Greg Olsen.  Now to 2017, if Stewart or Olsen is injured, we are in serious trouble.  CAP and Fozzy are not legit NFL starters and neither is Dickson.  If we are going to make moves in the draft, these are the main two positions we have to target because our offensive talent level really falls off behind these two.  We could survive any other area outside of more OL injuries or Cam.  I'm wanting Fournette/McCaffrey at RB and then Howard/Njoku/Kittle at TE.  These are pure need positions.  Everything else is BPA.

Funny, but when you hear DL and CBs getting mocked, and the others an afterthought, then you get the garbage offense we had last year.

Would that be the offense that led the NFL two years ago....with the same personnel

Our problem last year was OL.....plain and simple

We never had that kind of output before and not last year either.  We don't have playmakers on offense and that is the issue.  The cult of Gettleman is strong here, but what has he produced.  We thought we would get a TE and WR last year in the draft and we did not.  We drafted a TE as an afterthought and he didn't make the team.  What about WR.  KB had an excellent rookie season, was injured the next and was okay last year.  Funchess is a disappointment considering that we moved up to get him and Adams was a bust. Running backs under Gettleman have been a total disaster--CAP who is a JAG, Barner and Gaffney were bust picks as well.  Not any of his offensive selections have either been big contributors outside of KB, or even made the team.  That's why I have little faith Gettleman wont keep going defense when we are starved of talent on offense and his selections on offense have been mainly afterthoughts.

dont worry, we are drafting oj howard at 8. he gives us the most bang for the pick. totally overhauls the passing game and run game with his blocking ability and threat as a pass catcher.

plus i dreamed we drafted him last night after coming down from mesculine. dave gettleman appread to me (as a spirit animal) and said we are getting some juice at 8.

Yeah, cuz if we don't have starter level backups (even though our starters are currently healthy and will soon be winning) we're only one injury away from the shitter.

Question, which team could afford to lose a pro-bowl RB and an All-Pro future HOF TE?

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
