A HUGE development coming from a major news-breaking media head. Schefter believes Tribusky will be the #1 overall pick. If the Panther trade rumors up to 2 are proven true, I can assure you we may just have one of the best defenses in team history:

C'mon!  They aren't going to telegraph that.  That only helps SF.  It does poo for cleveland.

I love the smoke screening that goes on this year, but there's NO WAY they pass on Garrett.  I think they would rather draft Garrett #1, then trade back up into the top 5 for Tribusky.

@d-dave if this was any other team I would agree with you... but it's the Browns.

They might take an OG with the #1 pick.

LOL, indeed.  The Browns!  But they have these "money ball" guys in charge, shaking up how a NFL team is run.  I can't see how you take anyone BUT the best player (by a wide margin) unless you know something no one else does.  Trubisky MIGHT become a good QB, he has the tools, but only 13 college games.  He couldn't even beat out Marquis Williams (of Mallard Creek fame), who was a camp body last year.

Unless you believe that Trubisky is the next coming of a franchise QB in your soul...

Kind of this?

Not that we know what this new admin is trying to do, but Johny Football had plenty of red flags that pushed him down the draft board.  Also, this is exactly why you take the best player, not reaching for a need.

It feels weird defending the Browns, what should I do?

I would go wash your mouth out with soap.

    • Where this conversation goes south continuously and becomes bitter and contentious is when the discussion involves his "improvement". It is not hyperbole to say we started out the first two games of the season with some of the worst QB play in franchise history. We're talking amongst Jimmy Clausen. So when someone comes in and says Bryce played at such a high level in the last stretch of games he even surpassed Cam Newton as a sophomore there's not going to be any logical conversation to be had at that juncture. We can talk in a reality based context or we can talk in an echo chamber context. Only one is going to foster productive dialogue. Anyways what's done is done. We need to focus on the now. Now Bryce has an offensive line we've invested a ton of salary cap space in. He has a formidable backfield. He has a significantly improved WR room including 2 first round picks the last 2 years one being an 8th overall pick. He has one of the better TE rooms we've had in years with actual young promising talent instead of jags like Ian Thomas taking up salary cap space. He has a young up and coming offensive head coach. Honestly this is probably the best situation any QB has had entering the season since Delhomme in 2003. The foundation is there for any QB worth his salt to showcase high end franchise QB ability going forward.
    • Like they were comfortable with their pass rushers last offseason?
    • We have 2 startable cbs, good defenses have atleast 4 startable corners. We are in a pass happy era, base defenses have three corners on the field and dime packages with 4 corners are becoming incredibly common. We have zero depth at corner, if Jaycee or Jackson miss any time we will be torched in the air. Also Mike Jackson is an outside corner only, he is a big zone corner with below average change of direction and agility he would be a bad fit at nickle.
