think about it like this

football is one of the most brutal and punishing sports in the world, the injury rate is essentially 100%, players sustain life long damage from playing only a few years

and we just fired a top 5 GM because we were worried about a few players hurt feelings

True. I'm just guessing, but I would imagine that JR is not going to tolerate another year like last.

Just sucks that if we are terrible this year and fire the coaches,  we are wasting so many talented players primes.

The time can't come soon enough for JR to step away. His philosophy just doesn't work in today's game. A more ruthless business approach might have given us two Super Bowl titles by now.

The ups and down of this franchise are both infuriating and depressing. We finally have some sort of stabilty with the best GM we've ever had and we let him go. In July, for not explained reason.....fml

It's unfortunate that along with his heart problems, Richardson is now clearly dealing with dementia.

Can't remember a gm being fired and getting the type of reaction from former players like dg has gotten so far.

I'm excited to see who the new gm will be, no more ignoring positions of need or drafting rotational players in the 1st, people are over hyping dg, he was a C+ to B- gm, and if this is really jr pulling the strings then we're fuged anyway, so sit back and hope we get a guy who can incorporate the good things out last two gm's did well

Well, honestly this same very thing could've been said when Gettleman made very minimal moves the previous offseason before us going 6-10, first to worst.
