If people can't get mad about things like this, then what are we even doing here? If there was no emotion involved in being a fan then what's the point? I'm not going to bash JR or any of the players, but I will say that there is no reason whatsoever to be in a hurry to extend a 34yr old LBer with another year left on his deal or a 32yr old TE with two years left on his deal. TD and Olsen are great players but all NFL players are replaceable. It happens every single year for all 32 teams and the one's who know when to cut guys lose are the same one's who tend to be contenders year in and year out.

A repeat so that everyone will understand!!!Thank you

Interim means this year. Marty Hurney will be our GM for 2017. Let that sink in. The worst GM the Panthers ever had will be running the show for the best team on paper the Panthers ever had. Not one candidate is just going to leave mid season to be our GM. This is what we're gonna have until the season ends..May god help us

Olsen has been incredibly durable for us through his years here. For you to now huff and puff about how we shouldn't be extending him when you said nothing the last several years while we basically put any stunt dummy off the street behind him in the lineup is outrageous.

For as good as Gettleman was for us while he was here, there is no debating that he was not without his flaws. Much of that having to do with depth at crucial positions, like the OL for example. Which is why we ended up having to throw a bunch of bags with money signs on them at Matt Kalil because the situation finally made us desperate. Honestly that's where things have been headed with Olsen. The fact that certain fans are ready to throw him out like he's washed up while saying nothing about the fact that Ed f*cking Dickson somehow still has a spot here tells me they have no clue what they are even talking about in relation to the Panthers as a franchise.

Ok guys...24 hours + of shock.  Now time to act like adults.  Things happen in the world we have no control over.  Some of them we like and some we don't.  Some we understand and some we don't.

The rampant speculation (I know all we have) as to why this happened....which many seem to have now taken as fact and are spewing venomous anger toward Mr,. Richardson and even the team and players is a bit much. If you are not going to continue to be a fan because of this....I don't think you were a fan to begin with....but I am not going to argue with anyone on that.

I still love the Panthers.........will support this team and have confidence in our players and coaches to continue to work toward the goal we all have for this team.

I do not understand why this happened...no one does.  It does not matter how many theories are out there.  I wish Mr. Richardson would tell us but he likely will not.  This is a personnel issue and that is universally treated with discretion among professionals.

I prefer now to turn my focus on the excitement of seeing Cam throw the football after all these months...to see our rookies in their 1st NFL action..and when the season starts..to see "The Evolution."

Nothing wrong with having opinions but a lot of this stuff is over the top..some quite unbelievable.  I am going to trust that Mr. Richardson would not have made such a bold move at this time if he did not have a good reason.  I do not of course know what that is and neither do any of you.

Calm down guys.

Thank you!

I'm not huffing an puffing about anything. There is simply no reason to be in a hurry to extend ANY player with two years left on his current deal. What possible advantage is there for the franchise to be in a hurry to extend Olsen before the season starts? This is not personal, it's business.

I'm certainly not done cheering for the franchise, but I have severe doubts about the moves being made and the direction the team is taking.

It's still very possible that this season could turn out okay but my optimism for the future has taken a big hit.

That pretty much sums it up. There is just no way to spin this to make it seem like a good thing to happen right before TC when the buzz was so good around this team. Anybody who tries is just fooling themselves.

What has Jerry Richardson done in two plus decades that gives you any hope he has the slightest idea he knows what he's doing?

Im never sure whats worse.

The emotionally unstable people who what to jump off a cliff when something they neither understand or have all of the information on goes down

Or

The mental midgets who think they know enough about how and why an NFL team works that they could make better decisions than people who get millions of dollars a year to do the job
