8 years of no playoffs

These are all horrible over-reactions by most of you. You won't know if the Gettleman firing was a bad move until we've played 2-3 seasons without him . If they're all losing seasons and no playoffs then I'll agree with you. But at this point I believe we have the still have the roster to contend for the next couple of years even with a not so great GM, with the combination of pieces Hurney and Gettleman have given to us from the past.

This season is gonna be ugly.  I'll be the first to eat crow if we win the division or slip into the playoffs as a wild card.

Actually the pieces are already in place for this season.   We will be fine. It is the next 5 season that will be ugly.

That doesn't tell the whole picture at all.

Take away the 17-2 season (which was an abnormality) and the Panthers went 26-24-1 under DG, so average.

That 7-8-1 year was a fluke regarding the standings and anyone argues for DG based on that year is just kidding themselves.

The team has been wildly inconsistent. I see all these comparison to Belichek and how he runs the Pats, well the Pats also don't go 17-2 one year and then come back and go 6-10 the next. If you're going to run a team like DG does you better have a player that can carry your team to victory like the Pats do when poo starts to hit the fan. While Cam can be that guy, he's not yet.

When you have to take away one out of four seasons he was here to make your point, it's not a good point.

You can't take away events that actually happened, I hate when people say stuff like that. People use that arguement against Cam all the time , "take away his MVP season and he's just an average inconsitent mediocre QB."

You have to take everything into account, all seasons, and all factors. The fact is , he got us into a position to get to the 2015 season, you could argue Star and Short were huge factors in us having a good enough pass rush to generate all those turnovers and be one of the best defenses in the NFL that season , which hugely contributed to alot of our wins, as good as Cam was. He did alot of other stuff to im sure to get to that point, it wasn't just just him riding the coat tails of players Hurney drafted.

Gettleman wasn't at fault for all the injuries that occured in 2016, which is a gigantic reason why we lost so many games many of which were very close games. You could argue the worst thing Gettleman did for 2016 is not provide Cam with good enough OTs after getting exposed in the Super Bowl, and shitting the bed with Josh Norman and fielding a couple rookies instead.  You can't blame him for Cam getting injured on that TD run, Luke getting another concussion, or many of the oline injuries simply bad luck, and you can't blame Gettleman for Gano missing the game winner in Denver. If Gano hits that kick we probably go somewhere between 8-8 and 11-5 in my opinion. Would have totally changed the mood of the season and may have had a butterfly affect and possible the players play much differently and some of those injuries dont occur.

IMO, I think this roster is better than 2015. We will be fine this year. Next year though, I have no idea.

When that season was out of the ordinary, yeah you take it out of the equation.

It's like when you run a formula 10 times and you only get a good result one time. Outside of that one year we have been mediocre and anyone that says otherwise is arguing with facts.

This season should be fine. It's our future that has me very concerned.

Say what you want about there being "no chance" that Hurney is hired full term. But just wait and watch. JR will love having his guy back in the office.

I'm calling it now and until the day we ink a new GM, Hurney has a very real chance at being our permanent GM.

    • Its completely and utterly bootlicking at this point.  If you cannot acknowledge that using 3 picks on a rb with a torn acl in the 2nd round isnt a bad pick then you simply havent a clue about football.  Sorry man it is what it is.  And its insanely laughable you are trying to strawman this argument using other players.  And what fuging facts are you bringing that is justifing morgan using 3 goddamn picks on him?  I cannot wait to hear that.
    • Scourton's interviews are telling to me that it's only a matter of time before he could really put it together.  His limitation tool-wise that I see is in his bend, but at the leaner size, it looks like it wasn't a problem at Purdue.   He has a good moveset and reads leverages very well (vet level well).  Plays both the speed/quickness (great change of direction) and has a power game with good hand usage.  Moves from what I've seen in my digs: I'm seeing cross-chop, fake crossers into bull, bull rush, spin (his preferred move of choice), hand shuck.  He's not unrefined by any means.   If he can do 2 things---I'm feeling confident from seeing his interviews that we have a real dude on our hands: 1) Diversifying his moveset/how it's deployed - Over-reliant on some, but again, he has a growing palette.  And is already great with his hands so things are in-place to coach up. 2) Developing a counter moveset and starting to play the chess game with an OT - He's very good at reading leverage, knowing when to change things up during a play.  But NFL coaching should start to teach him how to really create a plan based on an opponent.  What to throw at a guy first, how to confuse with fakes/counters, etc.  How to play against these tackles as a game progresses.   Overall, he has some things that give me serious optimism: Run Defense, speed moves, power moves, he's super young and has the size/length.  When you really spell it all out, I think we should get excited.  Temper expectations from a stat sheet standpoint, but he should be able to go in and make an impact.
