Palardy pushing Lee according to Joe Person

Ron said he intended on getting both punters in the game against TN but there were only a couple of opportunities. Lee will start against the Jags.

Rob also keeps saying there is a competition for that position. But I think Lee ultimately wins it.

This competition is definitely closer than the kicker competition.

I'd agree Lee probably wins it in the end. However, I feel like our coaching staff has their strategy mixed up. When you have 2 players without significant differences in skillset, they seem to always take the known veteran on the wrong side of their prime. I would prefer we take the younger guy with a longer future to go ahead and get them acclimated and train them up.

Wouldn't they want to see how he looks in game action coming off the injury? Obviously you'd never want your punter having to make the tackle but wouldn't the coaching staff at least want to see how he handles in game pressure to ensure we don't put a corpse back there? Don't need to make the tackle but rerouting the runner could be the difference between giving up a TD or not.

Punting isn't like most positions. You aren't going to see major differences between practices and games. For a guy like Lee, the Panthers don't really need to see him perform in games. It is more likely he will get a few chances in the next game but that is just for Lee's sake, not the coaches.

This right here is sanjay's ideal roster:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/fantasy/2017/08/09/fantasy-football-position-rankings-top-50-tight-ends/552628001/

Three positions left, just enough room for a QB, kicker, and punter.

Oh lord here comes sanjay to claim we can save enough by cutting Lee to sign everyone else on the team to extensions.

Look at these assholes @Jeremy Igo

I always said the money we save from the 3 cuts can go to the guarantee potion of a contract  maybe if you paid attention to the team you would see this coming.

Good day to you douches :shades:

You specifically said we would save millions by cutting Lee. And continued after you were proven wrong. If yiu are going to call someone names, at least do it without changing your story.

I never said we would save millions by cutting Lee only  I gave the amount for cutting Lee, Gano and Dickson which would open up 6-7 million.

You need to stop making things up , just because you lost an argument.

Now go cry a river somewhere else :eyeroll:

Whatever dude. You know you said it, and were proved wrong. But I am done with you. Not wasting my time any more.

st bugs you have no idea what you are talking about - did you watch the shitty field position (for a punter) Palardy had to punt with last season? - half his punts were from the 50, greatly altering his average, through no fault of his own.  If you want to look at facts through rose-colored glasses and not from an introspective point of view why don't you look who had the worst average in the league last year on returns allowed per punt - it was Lee at almost 14 yards returned per punt - worst in the NFL before he was hurt - hang-time, anyone? And Palardy and Lee had the same amount of punts last season yet Lee had twice as many touchbacks. Since we are playing with statistics and all.

Umm, elite is now the worst punter in the league last year? Lee was 2nd behind a guy who retired and Palardy was dead last for punters who punted enough. Gano had a better average but only punted once. Maybe Palardy has improved but they weren't close last year.

I referred to him as a "bottom feeder" in the OP. The whole thread is based on his obvious improvement during this year's TC and preseason.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
