Moton vs Williams

Sorry if this has already been discussed... but did anyone find it interesting that Daryl Williams started at RT for the official dress rehearsal?  I couldn't watch the entire game, but I remember seeing Moton playing well into the 4th quarter, and maybe to 0:00.  I thought Moton was impressing at camp?  If Moton were going to surpass Williams, wouldn't Rivera have started him last night, considering it's Preseason Game #3?

Thoughts?

I think Moton is better than Williams, but that Williams provides good depth.  That 1st drive was beautiful.

Williams is the veteran in comparison . Unless he's shitting the bed consistently in pre season and practice, he'll probably be the starter at least to start the season based on previous nfl experience alone.

Yeah it's nothing against Moton, and from all accounts he is the future, but there's a vet who's been in the system for 3 years ahead of him. Plus Moton seems to be learning every single position on the line minus center. As long as Williams is serviceable there's no need to shake everything up.

I wanted Moton to be the starter but as long as Williams keeps playing like he is, I can't possibly complain. Moton still gives us a great back up who can play both guard spots, RT, and probably LT too if he has to.

It's nice to have 3 competent OTs.. if Amini can keep progressing - dare I say 4?

It may sound dumb, but he might--particularly on the line.  The better question is, which player makes us a better team?  I think Moton is better than Williams, but right now the team may be better with Williams starting than Moton, maybe for no other reason than he knows the playbook better and Turner/Olsen are more instinctive with Williams than they are with Moton.

Give it time, he'll be there at some point.

I forgot what it's like to have more than one competent OT on the team after Remmers, Bell, Chandler and friends. As long as they don't helplessly piss and poo themselves at the face of an edge rush then this team will be going places.
