McDermott vs. Shula and Cam

How do you guys expect this matchup to play out? McDermott isn't a McCaffrey expert (hence why we may have played him a little more than we should have yesterday), but he's the definition of a Cam Newton and Mike Shula expert. How do you expect his defense to attack us?

McDermott's D is perfect for our offense. Double A-gap blitzes play into the strength of our OLine which is the guard and center position and he'll have his corners 10 yds off the line of scrimmage against our receivers that struggle with separation. Oh and plus the Bills suck

Shut down McCoy and we win.  I'm a little concerned because he has his team playing hard and if we aren't playing at a high level it could spell trouble. 

Not sure yesterday's effort will cut it.

Leslie Frazier is calling plays for Buffalo, and he makes John Fox look like Chip Kelly.  A punt is a turnover, right?  That's how he thinks anyway...

I didn't watch the Bills game yesterday. Are they actually playing hard, or did they get the benefit of playing a Jets team that is tanking their season?

I watched the game highlights. Their offense was rolling. Lots of rushing yards, but the passing game was productive too. We are definitely going to have to play better to get a win.

I think the coaches knowing each other is a bit overrated.  Sure there will be familiarity with tendencies and insight into likely plays called.

 

But at the end of the day McD's knowledge will only go so far.  His players have to execute.

How does this analogy work? Leslie Frazier is a defensive coordinator.

He's the DC for Buffalo.  People act like McDermott is calling plays and he's not.  He just specified the defense that Frazier installed.  It's not going to be McDermott vs. Shula, it will be Frazier vs. Shula.  And for all we wanted to blitz more when McDermott was here, Frazier is even more conservative than McD was.
