if cmc sucks again sunday against the saints defense is it time to panic

I tried to tell people, Cooks was going to be a steal to whoever picked him up. There is absolutely no reason he should have fallen that far (yeah yeah character concerns, whatever).

As for CMC, if he can't get something going against this sorry ass defense, there will be cause for concern. He's been getting slung like a ragdoll so far.

Saints have an actual good run defense. Their pass defense is atrocious, but in all honesty they've done well against the Patriots in run D.

That's something many people are overlooking. I'll probably write something on that topic tomorrow.

To be honest, they did well vs. Minnesota until the 4th quarter. Both times Cook got a stretch play moving left to right out of shotgun. Saints had an inside blitz called on both plays. The OLB (Robertson both times) didn't set the edge and he bounced it for 30 yard gains both times. He had 20 carries for 60 yards and 2 carries for 60 yards.

Panic? No. But, I'll be concerned.

My primary concern with CMC was that Shula wasn't the right guy to properly utilize him. That concern has not been alleviated so far.

I ultimately won't be shocked if CMC ends up as a slot WR. I honestly think he's better there than he is at RB. #8 is a STEEP price to pay for a slot WR, but a great one is pretty much invaluable so I won't necessarily be disappointed if that's what ultimately happens.

we arent talking about a DT or a QB. the shelf life of a RB in the NFL is SHORT and if u draft one in the top 10 in the year of our lord 2017 he better be ready to ball asap

its a learning period for the player and the team...this is still Cam's team and we rise and fall with him not CMC...he is not a savior but a building block...

Right? If we were just going to use him as merely a slot WR and receiver out of the backfield, might as well just have drafted Tarik Cohen in the 4th and use your 1st rounder on a more impact player. I'm just not seeing the upside right now with that CMC pick. Ok, he can catch some passes out of the backfield and open the field up a little bit for our WRs. Not worth it for #8 overall pick. Doesn't help that his OC has the creativity of a snail (which is a huge reason a lot of us didn't want CMC, because we knew he would be misused). Hopefully he puts on some weight this offseason because he goes down WAY too easily and is getting slung around.
