i feel you. i just dont know if he will be alot more effective at WR. reason i say that is because of samuel. I know he missed lot of time but i feel his touches arent as nice as it could. Saving grace is since they like cmc so much even if he play calls arent the best he will have so many opportunities that his natural ability should suffice.

It's why I didn't care for the Samuel pick at the time. I thought we basically picked the same player in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Samuel is basically a faster, but less polished version of CMC.

I wanted DeMarcus Walker (DE) or Obi Melifonwu (S) there.

Don't get me wrong, given the right offensive system, I'd be excited as hell about the combo of CMC and Samuel but we have Shula. We are still essentially an offense that bases everything off of establishing a power running threat. We won't to pound the rock on the ground and throw it deep.

Other than Samuel's pure speed, I honestly fail to see how these guys fit into Shula's system. And there's more to being a deep threat than just running really fast in a straight line. Tracking the deep ball and reeling it in isn't as simple as it seems. Just ask Ted Ginn who we all saw many a ball bounce off his brick hands.

I think we have a lot of intriguing pieces on offense, but I think we're trying to fit a square peg into a round hole with Shula. I think Gettleman knew this and after he saw the "changes" that Shula was implementing, he let his frustrations show in that post-draft presser where he really pumped the brakes on Shula's offensive "evolution". I really think Gettleman was trying to force Shula's hand, probably based on conversations he'd had with both Rivera and Shula, so he drafted guys who would really thrive in an offense designed to get the ball out of the QB's hands quicker and take the pressure off of Cam and then he actually saw what Shula had planned and went... really??? WTF??!!!

I'm honestly starting to wonder if potentially pushing Ron to make a change at OC didn't play a role in Gettleman's firing. I'm sure veteran contract issues played a huge role in that, but was putting pressure on Ron the icing on the cake? I mean, Gettleman was essentially forced into keeping Ron as a condition of taking the job.

I'm not one of the Gettlman nuthuggers here who thinks the guy walked on water, but I do think that trying to actually act like a REAL GM was his undoing. JR has "his people" and by god if you fug with those people your goose is cooked. Evidently even tanking the franchise and getting shitcanned for it doesn't exclude you from being one of his people.

Mel Kiper was 100% right, he's not a RB he's a slot receiver/returner. All offseason I had to hear about his hype but I didn't buy it for one second. Just look what his replacement is doing at Stanford, Bryce Love is on pace for 1800 yards averaging a ridiculous 12 ypc.

Alabama, Wisconsin and Stanford backs all have one thing in common in the NFL.

Lets be honest its not just Shula, it's Cam. Cam is not and will never be a check down QB, that's why I wanted John Ross or Dede Westbrook, now both those guys are withering away on teams with bad QB's. Out off all teams in the NFL that would have been a bad fit for Mccaffrey Panthers were near the top. Mccaffrey is specialized player that would only really fit in teams like NE, New Orleans, the Chargers or KC.

I still have hope he turns out to be at least Tevin Coleman light, but even Coleman had track speed at 210 pounds that Mccaffrey doesn't

Go back and watch the tape... What do u want him to do with those carries? If theres anyhing to be concerned about besides shula, its the blocking. Its not like stewart is running buck wild either... And he might be the best yards after contact back in the league

What is with all the knee jerk reactionary emo threads.....WE ARE FUGGING 2-0!

I don't care if we look like poo every game as long as we win.

We could be 12-0 and it wouldn't matter dude. With some, it's always....

Here's the thing. Cam lobbied hard for CMC. He wanted him here, so he needs to be using him more. I honestly don't think he will ever be a true 3 down back, which is why I thought it was stupid to draft him at #8 overall.

And yeah, not only were majority of Panther fans saying he wouldn't be a good fit, pretty much every other fanbase questioned whether we would use him right, and so far it's turning out to be true. My hope is that he turns into the NFL's best slot WR, and an elite punt returner so we can get some return on our investment.

Thanks for the good laughs this morning!  Happy Friday indeed!

So let's ask a basic question: have you watched his carries and catches?  How many of those did he turn a 1 yard gain into a 4 yard gain with a move?  How often has that become a first down?

CMC is not doing horribly, he's doing well in the framework of the offense.  Now, there's a problem.  But when giving him a chance, he's making a play.  Sure, he's not broken one off for a TD yet, but he's still getting some good work done.  As Cam gets his accuracy back, things will open back up.
