That is pretty wild but I guess it does speak pretty highly of him that VT welcomed him back in a lesser role shortly after firing him. He was Franklin's DC at Penn State for years prior to taking the VT job so it makes sense on that front. Says a lot about Frankin too to keep the former HC around, the prior working relationship no doubt plays a big role there. Can't imagine keeping the fired HC around in a lesser role unless he'd already worked under you in the past. Being a really good coordinator doesn't always translate to being a good HC. I guess credit to VT for not losing a good coordinator because he failed as a HC. -

He isn’t in any of the HC conversations this year but he was a couple of years ago. I can see Tepper trying to resign him due to the improvement this season and wanting the 3rd round picks if he gets hired somewhere else. The coaching candidates are weak as hell this year, Evero may think he has a chance at a job or can backfill a DC of a contender if they leave for a HC job. BUT this also gives Dave and Dan an opportunity to bring in their guy, so will be interesting to see.
