Rivera on where Cam is right now on the season...

Something I saw in the Detroit Free Press article from another thread.

Quote

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Newton, who averages 5.1 yards per carry for his career, is still finding his timing on offense after he was limited all summer by his shoulder.

"He's probably at the end of training camp, the beginning of the regular season in terms of the reps that he’s gotten, the practice he’s gotten," Rivera said in a conference call with Detroit reporters Wednesday.

Pretty fair assessment, imo. I think they might be looking at the game against the Pats as a season opener as far as where Cam and the chemistry of the offense is concerned.

They definitely opened up more of the playbook and that is largely because Cam was healthy (finally) and was able to practice with the team all week.

Even though it was against a bad defense, I think/hope that this last game was a sign of things to come on offense for us.

Damn, Detroit Free Press does a better job covering the panthers than local press.

I'm not sure how deep I want to wade into this given what has just transpired but it helps when you have reporters who actually ask relevant questions. Every coach does a teleconference with the opposing team's media the week before a game. In Charlotte, we've got some bullshit article about how Jim Caldwell can't escape Julius Peppers having gone against him in college and the pros. In Detroit, they've got actual good information on our QB and analysis of our roster. The difference between the two is mind boggling.

Truth. When I want good Panther coverage in season, I usually search the media from our opponents.

Isn't there a Ravens reporter who typically breaks more Panther news than our own people?  Brinson or something like that?

aaron wilson used to. he's in houston covering the texans now. i haven't followed him or really anyone on twitter in a couple years so i don't know if he's still breaking stories or not like he used to, but he was the best in the league for a while.
