Report: Panthers fear Curtis Samuel may be out for the season

If required, CMC at WR is doable, at least in terms of running the routes. Multiple sources early on made comments about him already knowing every route in the entire book. Of the few times I recall him targeted down the sideline, seems like the results have usually  been pretty damn good too.

If anyone was to be signed I assume it would be someone with some wheels, not a guy like Cruz. Also, at this point in the seasons it will be very difficult for a reciever to integrate into a brand new offense.

Both good points.

Kenny Bell? Straight line speed, Poorman Ginn.

Ravens PS

Listenbee has some serious straight line speed too.

Theres a few guys I’d look at but it’s tough because you have to sign these guys to the active roster based on the little film you have on them

I think I saw Robert Davis on Washington’s PS (TD’s cousin)

Bell or Listenbee. I just for them to run full throttle every pass play on go routes. We need a deep ball specialist. Funfun is a great possession WR, reminds me a lot of Moose. Byrd will be a big boost. I know a lot downplay him due to play time but he was a project player that has grown each season. If not for that freak incident, I believe we would have been more balanced. Is Byrd the answer yes/no/ maybe but the way our coaches game plan he may not have been a huge role but it does show he was missed by the lack of speed. Byrd's preseason was no fluke, not game changer but one that screamed next step. Hopefully he will make an impact when he gets back to bring our WR depth back up.

Don’t need to sell me on Byrd, I’ve always been one of his biggest supporters.

He’s made positive strides each year and I think he can be an effective downfield threat.

But yeah, it would be nice to add another guy with some speed. Shepard is a poor mans Bersin and Clay isn’t good enough to not take a look elsewhere

    • Who is comparing the two QB’s as football players? They’re completely different QB’s i said before Baker got here that he could play but the huddle swore up and down he was the worst ever  Bryce very similar right now. Bryce out there with a bunch of guys that’ll be out of the league in a few years minus TMac. And given this thread is about the 4th and 1 play specifically well it was actually TMac that butchered the entire play by running the wrong route
    • Team goes as the QB goes. It's no wonder we get dogwalked on a regular basis. That's the face of the franchise.
    • Rookie 2nd rounder in his first career game (and a few weeks post punctured lung) gets 6 snaps, is doubled on 5 of them, created a pressure to force a QB scramble on the only one he was singled, and still put a little pressure on one of the doubles which ended up being an INT........... And people look at that as a bad first impression? Even if you wanted to see a better move to beat or get off the double team, just the fact that he's making teams account for him with 2 players on a given snap, is a win for the defense.  It's up to the rest of the defense to make the other team pay for doing so, you can't fault him for that. Seriously, it's like some people are just going to be upset with everything if we're not a SB contender every season and play like it every snap of every game.  I've been screaming it all offseason, we're not a player or two away from being a contender, we're still in the early phase of a re-build, especially if we don't have the QB (spoiler alert, we don't).   Sometimes you just have to see potential and growth from a team at this phase of the process, expecting elite play in week 1 out of guys like Scourton is a picture perfect recipe for ending up upset. If that's what he does in his first game coming off the freak injury and less practice time while recovering, I'm extremely optimistic of what he can turn into with more experience and time to work on his craft.
