sorry but if we had to sacrifice Star or Norwell to have Norman back, I'd get rid of one of them in a heart beat.

I can definitely understand your reasoning. Putting Josh back in our system on the other side of Bradberry would immediately improve our secondary. Kurt's play at FS would likely improve. Find a veteran SS or draft a stud in the offseason and we'd be in good shape

I'd hate to see Starr leave. His contribution to the defense is under appreciated because he doesn't put up a gaudy stat line each year. I'd try to keep him unless he wants too much money.

I'm not as attached to Norwell. Some on this board seem to think resigning him should be a top priority. I think he's replaceable with younger (and cheaper) talent in the 2018 draft. Or, the team could move Tyler Moton inside if the team wants to keep D.Wiliiams at RT. We can't bring back all 5 starters on the O-Line next year and expect an improved run game (unless they all drastically improve in the offseason and block better in 2018). An infusion of new talent up front is what we really need (and better play calling/run design)

J-No wanted money and got payed.

I don't blame him in the slightest. But we couldn't afford him then and I doubt we can afford him now.

The skins are a chucklefug of an organization. They still don't want to pay Cousins as a franchise QB when he's done nothing but ball out. If they let him walk because they can't afford him, then they will be even worse next year. But at least they'll be paying a top CB 20 million per year.

They might just fire Jay Gruden too, which would make the Cincinnati Bengals happy since I believe they also will be looking for a new coach after this season.

In case anyone is interested in Josh's contract information, you can click on the link above. As someone on here pointed out earlier, if the Skins did decide to cut Josh, this offseason would be  a good time to do so.

Josh had a 15 million signing bonus (8 mil in 2016 and 7 mil in 2017). He will have already received it and the 36.5 mil he was guaranteed at the contract signing after the 2017 season. He should be financially set for life right now.

After looking at the contract details, I think it is possible that the Skins could let him go and he find his way back home to the Carolinas.

Bottom line though is he made no bones about wanting to get paid top CB money.  That was what drove him.  And honestly, I don't blame him

I absolutely don't blame him.  It is the rare player that doesn't play for the money.  Some people will point out Tom Brady but I'll respond that 1. Brady is still making a poo-ton of money because he got a $40M bonus when he signed so his salary might be "low" but, as of next year, his cap number will be north of $20M and 2. he's married to a woman that's worth more than he is.

Yes, players (mostly) like the fans.  But they PLAY for the money.  Its a violent and dangerous game, they SHOULD play for the damn money.  So I absolutely have no problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is the mythology of Poor Poor Josh Norman Who Only Wanted To Play For His Home Town Team And Was Betrayed By A Big Meanie.  That's utter crap.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
