Will Devin Funchess have his first 1000-yard receiving season?

I dont think its a coincidence that it was Olsen that had the big day instead of Funchess now that Greg is finally healthy. Greg's probably #1 target, Funchess is going to get less targets by simple virtue of Greg being on the field.

Its alot more likely he'll get a couple of respectable games (50 yards 1 TD) instead of two 100 yard games.

I think the better question is .... will Brenton Bersin give us another 100 yard season? In seasons where BB had 100 yards or more.... we won the NFC South.

Numbers dont lie.

In years that Brenton Bersin has at least 2 starts, this team goes to the Super Bowl 100% of the time.

Bersin needs to start Week 16 and 17.

Agreed. I think it is more likely that we are basically out of the division race and locked into the 5 seed after this weekend. Yes, I know technically speaking NO has to play Tampa, but half their team will be on IR against us and then the other half will be against NO.

NO could be up on Tampa real early and seeing as how hard it will be trying to win on the road, we've got some guys who could use some rest.

If we win and the Saints win, week 17 doesn't matter, as far as I can tell, and we'll be resting players. Therefore, we would not get flexed, either.

Technically speaking, it does matter. We would both be 11-4, so NO losing in week 17 and us winning means we win the division.

That said, neither of us (NO included) will lose to Tampa. If we both win this week, we would need a miracle to get the division.

Roger that... I was already giving them the Bucs win. But you're right.

However, if they chose to flex us vs ATL and NO wins at 1pm, they've got a real stinker at 8:30pm.

NFL/NBC is not in a great position to have a meaningful game in primetime Week 17, based on the current outlook. They really one or more of the following in Week 16:

  • Panther loss and/or Falcon win this week
  • Jag loss/Titan win this week
  • Chief loss/Charger win
  • Buffalo win

Unfortunately, most of these are longshots.

Even if Atlanta loses this week, they'd still hold the advantage over Dallas and Seattle, regardless of who wins that matchup in Week 16.

If Buffalo wins at New England this week, Buffalo at Miami would be an interesting matchup in Week 17, because it creates a win or go home scenario for Buffalo.

Jaguars losing on the road to San Fran and Tennessee beating the Rams in Nashville is probably the NFL's best hope for a really meaningful game. At that point, Jax at TN would be for the division, regardless of what happens anywhere else.

Its possible. This would be a much better question after we play the Tampa game and see how many yards left to go

I could see him being used a lot this week since he was only targeted 4 times against GB, unless his shoulder hampers him. TB's secondary  should give up a ton of yards.

    • That depends on where he's at because if you look at his first 3 seasons before he got sick he had 49 rec as a rookie followed by 56 and then his pro bowl season he had 103 rec. If he's somewhere between seasons 2 and 3 then that wouldn't be bad at all. We'll have to wait and see but from the few clips I've seen and the comments I've heard and read I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. Personally, I'm really pulling for him and I think he's going to be the comeback player of the year.
    • More praise of Renfrow from Tim Weaver (formerly of USA Today's Panthers Wire, now SI.com), and also what I told some of you, my Huddle friends, from the start: keep it all in perspective, and don't conveniently---and perhaps unfairly, discount and label Renfrow as a JAG when it was a very debilitating illness affecting his play.    "It's understandable to be skeptical about Renfrow's abilities at this late point in his career. After all, he missed all of last season due to a bout of ulcerative colitis that also took a serious toll on his production in 2022 and 2023."   When Renfrow is healthy, he's an above average guy. Being 29 may hurt or help his chances depending upon perspective, but 29 for receivers generally means that there's still (sometimes plenty) gas in the tank. Renfrow also obviously has plenty of motivation and has come with his game face.   "Then agan, seeing is believing and by all accounts Renfrow has been very impressive since joining the Panthers a few months ago... Where Renfrow will fit in Carolina's new-look receiver corps remains to be seen, but at this rate it's going to be hard to exclude him from the initial 53-man roster." https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/hunter-renfrow-sick-route-panthers-training-camp Read the room, ladies and gentlemen. And don't get it twisted; Renfrow isn't the most talented receiver on the team, but we have seen his ceiling, when healthy, in a Raiders offense that wasn't necessary replete with talent. Consider what he can do, especially in the slot, in a Panthers offense primed with young talent (no pun intended). From sick to "sick routes," eh?
