Sad admission from Cam

We just have to understand a game like this and games moving forward, (receivers) aren’t going to be scot-free,” Newton said. “So as a whole, from throwing the ball, catching the ball, we have to make contested catches and maximize the opportunities that we do get

It has to suck knowing as a quarterback that your receivers can't get open. Yes, Cam had a bad game, but his receivers still suck ass regardless and so does this coaching staff.

That also means he knows he has to fit it in there and not be  hesitant. I took from that more personal responsibility than deflection as that is Riveras mantra. To me that is Cam saying he has to throw it in there regardless.

I didn't even see any contested catches that were not made today.  I saw either bad throws, no one open, or, at times, bad offensive line play.  This is a talent issue that no amount of motivation or coaching can fix.  I'm pretty sure that David Gettis could walk on to this roster right now and be the #2 receiver.

Next week is going to be a nightmare.

Lattimore will be healthy for the first time against us so you can rule out Funchess.

So that leaves us relying on the same guys you all saw out there today doing nothing...

Cam ain’t no dummy, he knows this too.

I think I saw three. An early throw to Clay that bounced off his chest, a throw across the middle to Funchess that the refs missed a PI call on, and one to Olsen.

either way - yeah David Gettis would be lethal in this offense right now.

What happened to some of the pass plays that Cam would normal be money on, like the out routes? Or the corner route to Greg?

I saw defenders draped over Greg all game. If isnt getting open either we are just fuged.

Also doesn't help that the officials refused to call them for pass interference. They were getting there before the ball. I don't expect much from the officiating in NO

    • I don't agree with this, he looks jacked to me.  His frame won't allow him to ever be as big as XL, and that's fine.  He will just have a hard time with press, there are ways to deal with that.
    • that type of QB, especially paired with a weaker NFL arm.....excel with quick game weapons though.   it sounds like you are a big Tmac homer.  I mean, if you are watching every snap he played in college.   So, it's safe to say we likely won't see eye to eye on expectations for year 1.   And my expectations on Tmac aren't all in his control.  As I have also said, elsewhere, this is really year 2 for Bryce.  So I expect the first half of the season to carry healthy odds of a year 2 regression (specifically the first half).  Film, tendencies, and weaknesses in Dave's offense are going to be prepared for.    out of curiosity, what cons to Tmac's game where in the scouting stuff you saw?
    • Maybe a weeeee bit exaggerating. I think he will be a great player. But that doesn’t look like someone that was super committed in the weight room during college which is just a little confusing. Maybe he cut some weight to try and run a better 40. We saw Julio come into the league a little skinnier, get bigger/stronger and really start dominating. Strength and size is important as a big physical x receiver. It’s not so important for the Devonta Smith role
