IF we beat the Saints, we are going to the Super Bowl

I would tend to agree that our first-round match-up is not ideal. However, if we are able to make the proper adjustments (Huddle buzzword!) and come away with a victory, I think we match up well with every other team in the NFC besides the Falcons which would be a toss-up but would be at home. Tell me I'm wrong!

Yea, I'm pretty confident our hardest possible matchup is the first one vs the Saints. Anythings possible if we manage to pull out a win this Sunday.

Hell I think Saints are a harder test than the Pats or Jaguars . Probably the Steelers is the only other team on that level that we match up really badly with.

Stewarts going to have to turn in another virtuoso performance ala vikings or dolphins game imo. if he sucks running the ball its going to force us to throw predictably on long downs and make the game near impossible. Stew and Turner are huge factors in this NO game.

NO has a mediocre run defense but they have great cornerbacks and secondary. I think this past game vs the Falcons Shula was getting too cute with his playcalls and we were passing way too much when it simply wasnt working. hoping he emphasizes power running to open up the passing game a bit.

I didn't guarantee a Super Bowl victory because the only match-up I fear more than the Saints is a rematch against the Patriots in the Super Bowl. Obviously a longgg way away but if we beat the Patriots twice in one season no one could challenge our supremacy and being a worthy champion.

Honestly... I hate to say it (if we lose) but I think the winner of this game goes to the Super Bowl. I'll take Cam/Rivera or Brees/Payton playoff experience over the Vikings (Keenum) and Rams (Goff and a first year HC younger than Brees) 7-8 times out of 10. I don't see ATL or Philly having any chance at all of making the Super Bowl.

I agree the winner of this game is likely going to the Superbowl. But that winner is probably going to be the Saints. All the other teams have inexperienced garbage QB's except for Matt Ryan.

The best thing that could happen is to get the W against Aints and get Payton all flustered but I wouldn't press my luck.

Couple of their fans are talking with their views on this game.

"They got a bounty on us"

" If the Panthers can prevent Kamara from making big plays, we could struggle in this game. Payton needs to come up with some new wrinkles for this game to get him in space. Carolina is coming in with a grudge and highly motivated. We are going to need our A game to win this match up. "

" Sounds to me like they are going to resort to Atlanta style head hunting. "

" As long as the crowd noise is deafening, they have no shot. "

"I think they will be determined to no let Kamara beat them which means they will sell out to stop him. If that's the case, I certainly hope that Payton has more than a few plays where Kamara is used as a decoy. I'm not saying not to get him the ball but with them keying on Kamara, using that to our advantage has to be key."

" I would love to see the fake screen on one side to Kamara and then hit Ginn with a screen on the other side! "

Maybe we should use same type of set-up Bucs used against Aints even though that will not happen.

" A good strategy the Bucs used yesterday was to double team Cam Jordan. With Cam out the picture none of our other Defensive lineman applied pressure consistently. It felt like Winston had loads of time when we did not blitz.

George Johnson seemed to do okay but showed why he does not have a lot of total sacks in his career. There was some pass rush but it was not consistent.

The question is what do you think is the best option to boost the pass rush? Blitz more? Does Trey Hendrickson or Kasim Edebali boost our pass rush?".

I think it'll be between the winner of this game and the Vikings and it'll be close. That'll quite likely be the NFC Championship game, and while the Vikings are a great team this year, like you said Brees/Cam and our coaches' playoff experience compared to the Vikings' will be a huge factor.

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
