Calling it now, expect a player house cleaning

Some big names at that. They are long time staples of the team.

I think Charles Johnson and Ryan Kalil are sitting very dangerously on the cutting block as well as Jonathan Stewart. All 3 are playing way past their prime and could be replaced by comparable players a fraction of their current contract and we need more space now to sign players like Norwell and Star.

If someone can find and repost the Matt Kalil contract stipulation that basically makes his contract a 1 year rental at first that would be great. Becuase I’m trying to figure out what his contract impact would be if cut, thanks!

CJ is definitely gone. Ryan? No.

If Larsen hadn’t played so well when he filled in I’d have agreed with you. We save 7mil if we cut him and he’s and old expensive player that missed the majority of the season.

I’d honestly would cut Kalil and offer him the O-line coach job, dude knows his stuff. Extremely smart player, just doesn’t have it physically anymore.

Matt is here to stay without a restructure. Terrible ass contract for bust of a player. Gettlemajic

Back when he was signed a few of us offseason geeks figured out that his contract was just a 1 year rental at first. So I’m curious if someone could dig that up again. I can’t because I’m stuck on my phone at the moment.

Stew gone - should be but won't be we're the Panthers

CJ gone - easily even Rivera/Hurney can't fug that up and it's not much the won't fug up

TD should be gone but won't be

Won't be surprised at all when we lose Norwell at the expense of our old fat.

Why TD? He’s not played bad at all, he’s a bit slower then he used to be, but still clearly he second best LB’er on the team.

You can't get rid of Kalil.  He lifts the entire offensive line.

For Stewart, it's a value thing.  We can get another younger RB who can do his job.  CJ has been done all season.

We are really thing at DE, and it gets worse if Peppers retires.

I do see that Hurney is going to have to cut some of his guys.  Sucks, but this is the business side of things.

LOL at the people who are saying Ryan Kalil.

We can’t cut Ryan, maybe restructure him but we can’t roll with Larsen.

As long as Matt is here which he will be next season he needs Ryan here for support (as pathetic as that sounds).

Our line will be exactly the same next season. Then in 2019 Moton will replace Matt and we’ll have to find a Ryan replacement

Copy and pasted my post from another thread since so many of you struggle to understand why Kalil isn’t going anywhere

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
