For those pleading for speed at the WR position

I don't want to draft another WR this season, I want a decent Vet to help Cam out. Allen Robinson might be available, as would Watkins. I wouldn't hate either of them coming here.

Jags were already prepared to tag ARob before the ACL injury when contract talks broke down.

Now he’s the perfect franchise tag candidate coming off a torn ACL

Speed isn't the only issue. Plenty of guys in the league with speed (including guys like Clay), but if you can't catch or get separation, you're useless. That's why there are guys who are low-round or undrafted who get bounced around. If Ted Ginn had the hands and could run the routes of the top third of the league, he'd be a Top 5 receiver in the league, because of his speed.

All our guys should have to compete with the spot below where they are right now. Funchess should have to compete for the #2 spot. Samuel should have to compete for the #3, Byrd for the #4. We accomplish that by bringing in TWO receivers (1 in FA, 1 high in the draft).

Haven't we done the old reaching for a player at a specific position  instead of going BPA which brought us both Star and Butler to begin with. This thread appears to ignore all that and is replicating what got Hurney in trouble to begin with. Going after players for a position we need instead of getting the best player at a position of need but focusing on improving the talent across the board.

???

DT was our biggest need when we drafted Star.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. They have a plethora of solid WRs on that roster. Whoever they have evaluating WR talent, fuging sign him up over here. I think the injury could allow him to walk and sign with another team, a la Alshon Jeffrey leaving Chicago for the Eagles.

I agree that we pay up, but they overpaid for him

I don’t believe so.

At the end of the day the formula we have isn’t working and they’ve stuck with it for 7 seasons now.

Adams just turned 25 last month and has multiple double digit touchdown seasons. Guys like him aren’t going to come cheap.

We’ve overpaid for A LOT worse many times.

Westbrook and Cole are nice but Lee (who I’m not a big fan of is a FA). They obviously still have Hurns under contract as well.

If I’m Jax I tag Robinson and let Lee walk. Re visit the situation in a year
