Cornerback

Can speak much about the rookies but I’ll ask this, how important do y’all think it is we add a corner? I’d like to go wr and S in rounds 1 and 2 personally. After that I think a corner in rounds 3 or 4 would be great competition for Worley and Bradberry. But let’s not forget our D was great last year, top 10 in the league? Focus has got to be on offense

With TD about to retire in 2018 somewhere we need a LB.  Our DE position being a weak point in our front 7.  They have to be addressed as well.

I really think if we address round one of the best of the following most will be Happy, WR, DE, S, CB, OT and possibly (but doubt round 1) RB.

I think most will freak out if we grab a LB.

These priorities will change after Free Agency providing we actually go free agency.

If Hurney is drafting, we'll end up with a stud in round one and then after that we might as well have a blind man throwing darts at the board with his bad arm. Hopefully we'll get another player or two after the 1st but don't hold your breath.

This,..

thats why I’m almost more interested in who we could trade a 2nd or 3rd round pick for?

hurneys best non first round pick choice he ever did was trading a 3rd round pick for Greg Olsen.

so I know he will do it, has done it and could do it again now for a receiver, corner or safety.

He picked up R. Kalil in round three.  You can bet that Turner will have a lot of input and if Wilks doesn't leave you can expect him to have some input as well.

Hurney is worse on trades outside of Olsen.  Remember he traded 2009 first for Otah and 2010 first for E. Brown.  So don't get too hyped over trading.

The trades for draft picks he sucks at because he sucks drafting outside of round 1.

he traded for Olsen but Olsen was already a proven commodity.

trades for Everette Brown and Jeff Otah were draft picks, not proven commodities.

yes he got Kalil in round 3, but most of his 2nd and 3rds such as Dwayne Jarrett, Ryne Robinson, Armanti Edwards, Corey whatever Thay fat lineman’s name was— the list goes on and on.

he can’t draft 2nd 3rd and 4th rounds to save his life

so I would rather him trade our 2nd and 3rd rounders for proven players.

I posted in the Hurney the worst ever thread.  A list of all his picks.  Round 1 he was money but after that, you're right.

Teams that are looking to trade a player, that player most likely has baggage.   Pick your poison, player with baggage or 50/50 on good or bad.

On the offensive side I don't see Hurney selecting without Turner's input so that should help.  Rivera and the OC should have the defense.

I will cringe as they get ready to announce the draft picks after round one.   I am hoping Hurney listens to someone other than that "GM in his brain that works for Madden"

I feel like if you get a stud Safety in the draft who can replace Adams, and Coleman can somehow find his 2015 form, then Bradberry will look much better. Worley needs to lose some weight and be fast enough to not have to play off the ball so far.

But also, if we signed a decent starting CB who could not only push both Bradberry and Worley to the next level, but also help coach them up, that would be ideal.

Kalil was drafted in round 2.

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
