Some of that Kalil $ could have gone toward keeping Norwell

Getty was supposed to be an expert on “ hog mollies” and has made some decent moves but the Kalil deal was an absolute s**t show. Will go down as one of the worst pickups in our history.

Maybe, but the jury is still out on that and it's not even close to the worst pickup.

So let's summarize.

50+ million to one of the worst left tackles in the NFL. Let Ginn walk to our biggest rival for peanuts to the detriment of our WR core. Drafted an RB 8th overall that couldn't even crack 500 rushing yards while our QB led the team in rushing and ended up nearly destroying his knee.

Executive of the year!

 Didn't you hear? That was all Jerry Richardson!!!

Good= Gettlemagic

Bad= Meddling owner

This literally doesn't have ANYTHING to do with this thread.  Talking about a red herring.

Matt's contract, if I am not mistaken, has an escape clause after this year.  I would assume that Ryan Kalil/Thomas Davis/and

Trading Benjamin prevented a big contract that would have been tough to re-sign Norwell, but if you consider the big contracts rolling off in 2018, there is room.

Start here (if you don't know about this already): https://overthecap.com/calculator/carolina-panthers/

You have to get creative.  First, take a look at the possible releases and savings (If I am reading the info on the website correctly--assuming this info is correct, but this does not seem right--please correct the info if you know more):

Stewart $5,218,750 (we are drafting a "between the tackles" RB-Stew did not have $5m in productivity and is on the wrong side of 30)

Munnerlyn $ $3,937,500  (Benjamin was the last player to have a disagreement with coaches---I doubt they think more of Capt.  Besides, Corn can do the job)

Sheperd $3,525,000  (Terrible contract.  Cut losses)

Whittaker $1,150,000 (With CMC, an undrafted free agent could give us as much at half the cost)

Adams $2,425,000  (he intercepted a long pass on fourth down that cost us 20 yards of field position.  39 year old players should know better)

THIS TOTALS $20m
