Possible GM Candidates

Mr. Scot

Tina Becker being in on it is likely just a rubber stamp for Richardson.

If Ron Rivera is part of it, and I expect he will be, we know from his own words that he'll favor Hurney (and it's not like Rivera makes the greatest decisions when it comes to hiring people anyway).

I'd take the process a lot more seriously if it involved someone from outside the organization, but that's not likely.

I'm hopeful that an actual qualified candidate is selected, but I can't help feeling like this is all just a show and we'll wind up with Hurney in the end.

Prove me wrong, Panthers.

While I still think the process is going to be rigged for Marty Hurney, this is at least potentially good news.

I thought so too.  I am not buying the Marty 2.0 crap.  It was my opinion  that he started mortgaging the future to save his job before getting canned---that is a character issue.  Secondly, he always drafted a safe pick in the first round. Finally, there were positions he would ignore or suck at drafting--like DT, WR (Jarrett, Colbert, etc) , and I don't recall many DBs that made me squirm with outright joy.

Hurney probably ain't going to make the cut, guys.  It appears that "interim" really meant interim.

The only way I see this being the case is if new ownership is already basically decided upon behind the scenes and is giving their okay on this search. If not, I have to think there's a really good chance that new ownership will bounce whoever and put the people of their choosing in place.

This whole thing is looking more and more like it's a last ditch effort to go all in to get a title for JR and his cronies.  The only reason they are doing this at all is because by rule they have to.  The panel will in the end select Hurney.

Then Hurney will have free reign to do whatever it takes to make sure they win it all with the next two years.  Cap be damned.

I would bet my left nut that old Jerry has already set this up with the next owner.  Except for wrecking the cap part that is, the new owner will find that out later.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
