My most fervent Carolina Panther dream right now

Is that when the new owner gets announced, the very next morning EVERY administrative office and cubicle and EVERY staff office and cubicle and EVERY coach's office and assistant's cubicle has an envelope in every chair the next morning to greet the occupant?

"Thank you very much for your service and hard work on behalf of the Carolina Panthers.  Enclosed you will find your severance as required by contract and/or law.  Best of luck in the future."

It absolutely won't happen, I know... but a man can dream.

About the stupidest thing I have read all day. So we fire everyone at once and that would fix things. Good news is a guy who is a billionaire didn't get that far doing ridiculous things like you dream about.

I'm not necessarily in favor of an "everybody's fired" moment right away, though I do think the turnover in the front office could easily be significant.

I'd still prefer the new owner at least take the time, interview people, get to know them, look at their past performance, etc, especially on the business side of the operation.  Probably will still be turnover, but do it methodically.

On the football side, probably easier (and frankly better) to just hire a GM and let them do it.

Obviously a much better approach overall. But what and when we do anything depends on when a new owner is chosen. Obviously the closer to the actually season the choice is made, the more restraint any new owner should show. There would be little reason to hire a new GM in August for example rather than waiting until the next offseason unless his guy is available now and wouldn't be in February.

I think Tina, the lawyer/advisor who is guiding JR through this BS dog and pony show, and the Communications Director who for some reason is interviewing GMs all need to see the door immediately.

They're either incompetent, incapable of standing up to a disgraced owner, or both; and they shouldn't be trusted near the team for an extra second as long as JR is alive.

I don't necessarily think Steven Drummond should lose his job unless he's actually bad at the job he's supposed to do.

That he was put in the position to choose a GM, something he's obviously not qualified to do, is not really his fault.  It's Jerry Richardson's fault, but nobody should be surprised at that.  Richardson putting people in roles for which they're not qualified is par for the course.

Becker?  Yeah, I don't really think she's qualified to run the entire operation.  She should either go or be reassigned back to a job more suited to her ability. And she's not the only one.

Lemme frame it this way...

Have you ever worked for somebody that was either 1) in over their head 2) waaay too stressed or 3) just losing it?

You can see them making dumb mistakes and doing stupid things, but they're still in charge and that means they can fire you.

Uncomfortable as hell, but what can you do but try to ride it out?

For those people within the building who actually do know what  they're doing, I can imagine it's probably pretty rough right now.

For the people who don't?  Well, I imagine they're fairly nervous that once a new owner hits town, they're gonna be exposed.  (and yes, that could be Marty too)

Bottom Line: The sooner Richardson is out, the better for the organization.  Not so good for the people who lose their jobs, but no one really has a right to a job they're not qualified to do.

(except people who work for Jerry Richardson, of course)

I'm not about to celebrate people being fired, but after 20 plus years of JR's Mom and Pop routine, chances are a Wall Street mogul taking the reins will result in a culture shock for many of the current Panthers employees.

The smart ones might want to explore other job opportunities before new management takes over.

It's valid, and yeah there are probably people in the office who are where they are because they knew Richardson was a dolt and played up to him.  Every workplace in the world has people like that.

Those people probably know the gravy train is about to crash into a stone wall.
