Obviously the backup QB position needs to be addressed but in a year-to-year league, the thought of anyone succeeding a 28 year old former MVP in the next decade is absurd.

I've never thought Funchess (or Benjamin for that matter) was a #1.  But, to Funchess' credit, I also started thinking he may not even be a #4 receiver until last season.  I definitely think he's a #2, and a really good one if he continues with the same production from last season.  

That being said, we need a dynamic #1.  Funchess, for all of the strides he made, is definitely not a #1.

I think it might be more that he just wants a ring before he retires and might think there are other teams with better chances of winning it all.

I know the Pep camp stayed in touch with Becker but all contact ceased with Hurney, I think the Friday before the news became public.  Either way, regardless of day of the week it was a 2 or 3 days before anything went mainstream.

I have never been told any info that makes me believe Julius has any personal dislike or aversion to Marty but, I do know he expressed many, many times how happy he was to be at home, how well he was treated by the COACHING staff, how he pretty much dictated his own weekly regimen during the regular season and how much he wanted to win a ring here.

 

I don't know...the more I think about it, the more frustrated I get...I know he wants/wanted to win a ring here but which part is more important to Pep, "winning a ring" or "winning a ring here"?  I dunno, fug me.

I do know he loved being here last year but I also know he wants a ring.

I didn't see the trade as about making Funchess the "number one". The stated purpose was about getting more speed on the field.

Thinking about what kind of vet WRs fit the Cotchery mold, there aren’t many that are FAs this year unless there are some cuts. Maybe Eric Decker or Danny Amendola, the only 30+ WRs still producing much at all.
