Yeah, not saying I thought Wentz would pan out either, but I'm almost certain this crop of QBs will disappoint.  I think this is a much bigger gamble...  I feel like only 1 of those 3 that keep being talked about in the top 10 will even be respectable.

I'm not a fan of any of them either, but I'm not an NFL scout.

Jets fans have been miserable for awhile, even when they were good a few years back you knew they were always going to be limited by QB.

It's a bold move but I like it.

Worst comes to worst they kept their first round pick for next year

Not even gonna quote that moron but check out *that* quality post from dood man on page 1 rofl....the good news is we actually do ban people for being that level of dumb on a consistent basis so keep em coming.

In another one he was like fans gonna attack ex players because they like Gettleman or some retarded ass poo lmao.

look back at what the Eagles gave up for Wentz....if Jets nail the pick it's worth it.

Yea good point Wentz is worth it.

Seems like a fair trade for both teams. Jets are desperate for a QB.

They recently traded Sheldon Richardson for Jermaine Kearse and Seahawks 2nd rounder.

So essentially, Richardson and their 2 this year and next, secured them a top 3 pick to get themselves a QB and a WR in Kearse

Not that bad actually since they had extra ammo.

It is--I guess they are thinking a QB is worth it.  Whew.

This move followed Rosen's pro day, coincidentally.

It'd be great if we could bend some team over like that every now and again. Lots of picks for dropping back when you don't need a QB. We haven't taken advantage of having Cam in more ways than one.

Browns better take Barkley and let the QBs fall how they may.

That's an option, but which position is more likely to have a good quality player available later?

I'm in agreement with Tony Grossi on this one. The Browns have been too bad for too long at quarterback to let their top choice slip by.

Granted, this is the Browns were talking about, so even if they do take a quarterback at number one there's still a pretty good chance they're going to screw it up.

The class as a whole, I'd agree. Much like the 2011 class. From that bunch, eho outside of Cam has done much of anything?

But still, there was Cam. And maybe out of this class, there'll be one or two good ones as well.

Given the overall state of quarterback play these days, I'd say it's worth the risk.

3 top 50 picks, at worst, for 3 draft spots?  And the only thing you guaranteed is you will get the 3rd choice at QB instead of the 4th. You do this if you KNOW you’re getting the guy you want.

You think Gettleman is drooling at a chance to trade down? Unless he’s taking a QB, he’d be crazy not to. I’d be shocked if BUF didn’t move up to #2 at a steep price.

Great move for Colts. #3 overall and no immediate need for a QB does not happen often.  They get a ton to drop 3 spots.  It could change CLeveland's #1 pick (they might select QB now), but the results are pretty much the same from Indy's view:

  1. Cleveland RB Barkley Penn St
  2. NY Giants QB Darnald, USC
  3. NY Jets QB Rosen UCLA
  4. Cleveland QB Allen Wyoming
  5. Denver (Hard to say, but do not rule out a young QB like Mayfield, but I think Denver trades out of this spot for a team needing any number of players (Fitzpatrick, Edmonds, James, Nelson, or Chubb).
  6. Indianapolis DE Chubb.  Most teams have Chubb going to Indy, reminding them of the Mathis/Freeney Days.  If he goes #5, do not be surprised to see G Nelson here.

So they get what they want plus an early second AND early third rounder--and a second rounder next year.  WOW.

In a lot of ways this is an advertisement for tanking and an indictment of the draft system.

Talent-wise, people expected the Jets to finish in the bottom three anyway. But instead of tanking and throwing the season, they played gutsy and finished with the sixth overall pick despite a garbage roster.

Their reward? Apparently it's giving up half of their potential young talent for the next two years just to get the same pick they would've gotten by not trying at all.

How harshly we punish bad teams that have the temerity to try winning games.

I don’t mind the worst teams getting the top picks, but a compromise must be made.  I agree.  At a minimum, a snake draft format (reverse order rounds 2, 4, and 6) should be implemented to avoid punishing good play and/or trying.

Florio is speculating that the Bills may try trading up to the Giants spot to get their QB of choice. Price could be steep if so, especially if what the Jets traded is used as a benchmark.

How confident would you be going into the season with McCarron?
