Is there a reason why people are putting Wright ahead of Smith as a lock? That just makes no sense to me considering Smith has had a 1000 yard season and Wright has only passed 500 once...

While not the most ideal situation, it would be interesting and I could get my head around:

Over The Cap has us at $16million(doesn't include Peppers or Wright)

-$5m Peppers, -$3.5m(?) Wright, -$6m rookies, +$1.5m Fozzy. +$3.5 Shepard, +$2m in other low roster cuts = $8.5m

Offer this to Allen with a hit around $6-7m this year (something like 3yr - $30m overall) and sign a S or CB at $1.5m. Draft for our other needs.

Having Allen, with the other added WRs, would relieve pressure (in the box) run game, defense, and a need for a TE2. In my opinion, we would only have the glaring need at the remaining CB/S. We just need depth/competition for other areas with our draft picks.

(Then there's the risk that 3yr - $30m isn't even competitive for him)

Rookies are usually already factored in to that number

Shep cut would be a tick above 2M (dead money)

Two reasons:

1. Smith has no guaranteed money on his contract and can be cut at any time with no cap penalty.

2. He's not very good and has natural replacements on the roster if they are healthy.

Don't listen to B.S.  It's the 2 mil guarantee. As simple as that. Smith ain't going anywhere.
