I could also see this as a way for him to trade down and still get a pass rusher like Landry or a guard like Nelson if he traded with a team like Buffalo for 12 and 22.

Then again, he's always at the mindset of "quality" over "quantity". I don't think he ever traded down in Carolina, right?

However, I can't decide if I would rather overpay other team's players or overpay our own?  We have a history of that.

Actually it cost the Giants 2.5 Million  this year if I understand it right. They now have to eat 15 million in dead money from his signing bonus.
