Tidbit from the New York Times cheerleader story

Just get rid of the cheerleaders altogether.  And, I'm sure there's some exaggeration in these first hand accounts.

Media loves stuff like this where they can just build a snowball and let everybody run with it.  How many legal proceedings have their been?  I'm interested in the facts, not some story about "that one time"....

Yeah, it's easy to get rid of them. Just takes a little too much effort to actually recognize them as legitimate ambassador's to the teams and NFL, and treat them like real employees who should be treated with a minimal modicum of respect that should be due any human being, much less women in this political climate. No way a team could do that, right...?

I could have sworn that it's 2018, and not 1918. Forget evolving, and envelope dissolving.

Don't clean the house, just blow it up.

I think the point of evolving is to get rid of a position that's main job is to be eye candy.  There can be other jobs for them, but the concept of having a woman to wear revealing outfits and jump around is the thing that is outdated and in need of evolving.

Right now, loads of guys are reading this and saying, "That was an option?"

I have to admit if the team was paid that much, and each cheerleader only received a 100 bucks to go dance at someone's house, they might have a legit point.

Fwiw, I have no opinion on whether they should keep them or not.  They are not essential to game day, but they are a pretty decent marketing tool.  But yeah, they should get a little more of the haul.

I kind of agree, and I thought about that when responding, but the fact is that it's just another aspect of entertainment and even art as there is choreography, dance, and athleticism involved in the sport. And, yes, depending upon the level of detail and sophistication, it is a sport. And, as many people who have been to college football games can attest to, there are male cheerleaders as well.

All I am saying is that there is a professional way to incorporate cheerleading in professional sports without all the unsavory undertones.

You know, this kind of makes me wonder what kind of experience the mascots have as well. How much are they paid or if they are paid. I'm only thinking of this since many times the various mascots will perform alongside the cheerleaders at events and on game day.
