Don't care what the schedule is, as long as we finish off in Atlanta on Feb. 3.

Winning it all in the Atlanta Sphincter in Navarro's first year of owning the team would be a very nice touch.

Nola NYE would be awesome.  Sugar Bowl is Jan 1st though so not sure they’d schedule a home game that weekend

With two days to flip it? Yeah they definitely would. The whatever its name is bowl was the next day after the Panthers at Bucs when we were there in '16. Unless it's a conflict on the same day the NFL doesn't care

Yeah NFL doesn't care about giving us a damn road game to start off every year either. They can suck my nuts!

Good point.. not sure if you’ve been that particular weekend but Nola for sugar bowl weekend is almost as big as Mardi Gras .  It is in no way comparable to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte.

I haven’t been that weekend actually. I’m sure it’s a zoo. But I was talking about the bowl game at the Bucs stadium which was the very next day. I think it has more to do with getting the stadium prepared than number of tourists in town. But who knows? I do remember the Panthers playing there NYE weekend in back to back years (maybe 2013 or 12??) but I wasn’t there so can’t speak to how it was.

Close, 2011 and 2012. In the 2011 season, the game was on New Years Day, but the Sugar Bowl wasn't played until the 3rd. In 2012, our game was on the 30th and the Sugar Bowl was held on the 2nd so there were at minimum a 48-hour buffer between the games both of those years.

But considering the Sunday is the 30th it is possible to have that buffer zone to get it ready for the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks. I thought it was something like that.

Weekend in NOLA, smacking your Saints around in Sunday, NYE on Monday, and then the Sugar Bowl on Tuesday!?! Holy poo that may be the weekend that actually puts an end to me.

    • https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/versatile-2nd-db-named-panthers-154026075.html Smith-Wade's ability to play corner, nickel and safety makes him valuable to a young defense trying to rebuild after finishing last in the NFL a year ago. "Chau took advantage of an opportunity,'' coach Dave Canales said. "He made tackles. He had an opportunity on an interception, and he made it.'' Our defense has got to come alive for us to have a chance of winning our Division!
    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.
