Well we drafted an unathletic safety tweener already, TE with 35 career catches, and now a DE barely big enough to be a LB

some of us are very let down with our picks as a whole

now, define Safety tweener...

there is a difference between pure athleticism and unathletic...that was the point ...I see no reason to think he is an unathletic DB

Looked athletic enough to me from the vids I saw. It's not all about athleticism. It's also a thinking man's game. You take your athletic gifts within the context of understanding your limitations, and maximize your talent by taking good angles and impeding, hindering, or plain stopping your assignment from doing what they want to do.

Lmao what do you guys expect with fifth round picks? I love this selection and I think he could develop into a nice situational pass rusher for us. If you get a guy who can contribute 5-6 sacks a season in the fifth round that's a great pick. Some of this dude's highlights are insane, so powerful

Here is a scouting take

IN OUR VIEW
Haynes is one of the true boom or bust picks of the 2018 draft. If allowed to simply pin his ears back and rush the quarterback, he possesses the explosive burst and tackling power to make an immediate impact in the NFL, just as he did at Ole Miss. Make no mistake, however, Haynes is a bit of a one trick pony whose limited size and functional strength could make it difficult for him to duplicate his success at the next level. The fact that Haynes was held without a single tackle against Alabama in 2017 will not go unnoticed by scouts.

Hmmm an immediate impact rusher on 3rd downs.  Ok. I hope so.  I never watched any tape on him.  But his get off is wild to watch. I’m ok with pick if he can continue to gain weight

Gotta let it play out, fellas. We're stuck with them now, bitching doesn't do any good. If it sucks, well, it's Hurney being Hurney. If it works out, we could have a 2017 Saints Draft on our hands. I'm hoping for the latter, but I'm preparing for the worse.

Vic beasley, yannick ngakoue and Dante Fowler were all considered undersized. They weighed 235-245    When they were drafted yet were able to do well in the NFL. This guy broke Greg Hardy’s sack record at Ole Miss and has the TFL record.

This guy was consistent. He may be a one trick pony but he has one hell of a trick. If he can learn more moves and put on some size I can see him making it in the NFL. I have a feeling he will be red shirted this season, unless the staff doesn’t believe in Daeshan Hall.
