Likewise, teams pick up offensive lineman because "wow,  they're huge and imagine what we could do with that" but again, sometimes the reality is they're just not good at football.

2 words...David Foucault.

This guy was a mainstay starter at USC though, not a Canadian wild card.

Matt Willig is the perfect comp.

Point taken, I was just supporting the idea that just because you're 6'8" and 300 + pounds, you may still suck.

And Foucault, IIRC, was the #1 overall pick fr the Canadian draft. Lots of excitement about him when we grabbed him.

Really? I didn’t. I’m not sure I back your film watching ability. Did you watch the Senior Bowl? He was one of a few tackles that looked like crap against OK DL. I posted that in our draft discussions because he was a “name” before this last year and like Orlando Brown he had some mock draft hype before his last year where he struggled a bit. Could he improve, sure but to say it was just coaching is an over simplification. He was just plain bad in the Senior Bowl against drafted players. I’d place my bet on practice squad at best.

Holy fug!!!! Damn chill out. Youre acting like I wanted to take Banner in the 1st round. I liked Banner as a mid round to late. I had him lower than a 4th rounder. Imo, Colts reached for him. That’s their fault. I thought he was raw coming out. Also he is 6’9”. You just don’t see a lot of guy that size make it in the NFL.

Take a chill pill.

I am a bit skeptical, but this guy was not PS material to a sixteenth of the league.  That suggests his issues are not developmental.

On the G front: Last night, I watched the OG from Penn State some. I was impressed to the point that I think he could make the team.  Not ready now, but is he better than Silatolu and friends?  Maybe.

I watched Bosch too.  He pulls/traps pretty well, but he plays too high and will be devoured by DTs if he does not get better.  I say he is a cut.

I watched Hearne , LG from Clemson's highlight tape.  Viewer beware.  But I saw someone with pretty good pass technique who can pull,  He failed to lock onto the rusher when he could have.

I think we get one or two Guards from this group that make the PS or better.  We shall see.  Of the three, Hearn seemed to have the biggest nasty streak--but I was watching his highlight reel vs. game rewinds for the other 2.

The Colts and Browns are both desperate teams. Desperate teams often let people go who take time to develop. That's the nature of their game and it often explains why they often create losing systems and dynasties.

The guy gets the chance to come to offseason workouts and camps and won't make the slightest impact on our roster come Sept. unless he really shines. It's no harm to us if he doesn't pan out. If he does, great!

Like I said, redemption guys make for great stories.
