Closest situation to the panthers...

The owners can revoke Richardsons ownership. Removing him from the process.

They can force JR to sell the team, yes (although he’s already doing that on his own...). They cannot force him to sell it to a lower bid than the highest bidder. JR would win that fight in the courts with ease and the league would come out of it with a huge black eye. That’s not happening.

Here's the thing about them voting him out, the NFL knows it doesnt have the votes to get him out. Hes got too many friends that wont do it.

So the NFL is forced to play shady tactics like releasing information about how Navarro made his money and so forth. On the other side JR likely doesnt have enough votes to get Navarro voted through if a handful of owners. "Kraft, Blank and a few other higher ranking owners" are holding this process up for their buddy Tepper.

Basically comes down to this,

Does the NFL or JR have the bigger set of balls and is willing to force the other side to make a move. The NFL's move would be fraught with bad PR while you cant blame an owner for wanting someone local who'd less likely to move and is giving you more money...

The thing is I'd take Tepper and the league is getting what it wants from day one. I'm sure this was all orchestrated to happen. Personally, I don't want a guy that JR approves in there b/c who knows if JR will indirectly be speaking in Navarro's ear about player personnel. We should go in the direction the league is going because if JR really wants a guy in there, that means that guy shares his vision. I'm sick of trying to be the pittsburgh steelers. fuging hate that franchise. We need a new identity. Plus if we do get the indoor stadium, we'll get Super Bowls. We could still be the first team to host and win one. However, it would be nicer winning in Atlanta this year.

Yeah if this is true then the Richardsons and maybe even Navarro have a collusion case for sure. I can’t see JR selling to someone he doesn’t want to own the team in order to protect bad press about him...truth is coming out one way or another at this point. Might as well sell to who he wants.

Per multiple sources, Richardson is absolutely obsessed with his legacy.

If not, this whole thing would probably be a lot easier.

His legacy..... lol

I'll put him a few rungs higher over Jared Fogle the Subway guy.

To be fair, I'm sure Richardson sees it differently.

He'll likely go to his grave believing he did nothing wrong.

God this is such bullshit.

I never understood how people could like Tepper to begin with? All the memes about brass balls and such. He literally looks at our team as a small investment or a moderate sized real estate investment and cares nothing about the team,it’s players, fans, city, or anything. The only thing he cares about is finding a way to prove to you he can do the bare minimum and even be a cheap ass while buying an NFL team. This dude has a God complex. But “hey Brass balls and 11 billions dollars dudes!!!” Idk how the majority of you are only seeing the snake in him now? We all love to ignore that the panthers are the easiest team to relocate in sports. Play one season and they are free to go. Only a one time small relocation fee that he would surely have the other city pay for him because he’s exactly the kind of guy that would use foodstamps while being a billionaire. The Panthers are a huge part of my life and identity but if he somehow weasels his way into ownership how in the world could any of us support him?

I see the PR campaign that Navarro paid handsomely for has worked its wonders on the Huddle. Those planted articles in the Observer made me laugh out loud about how everyone he worked for said he was a saint. Do I need to remind you folks that he makes his living as a billionaire debt collector? I'm not opposed to him, but if you really think there's a gulf between him and Tepper, you're falling for the paid-for BS.

Do you suck your thumb at night? Tepper is about making money. The Panthers have always been in the top half in the league in revenue unlike the other pro teams that have relocated within the past 30 years. You know how he makes the most money when he buys the Panthers? By keeping them in Charlotte.

Well, a majority (or greater?) vote to approve a sale is by definition "collusion", I guess.

If they're pushing the guy they'll vote for because the other guy ain't gonna get the votes, what's the difference?

When it comes to the owners who own the organizations that ARE the NFL, I don't think "collusion" would be a problem.  They can probably do anything they want unless their by-laws say otherwise like "highest bidder always wins".  I'm betting they have enough qualifiers in defining the winners of franchise bids in their rules that they can do any damn thing they want.

And none of this is good for the future of this franchise IMO.
