How would you rank D-lines?

On paper we have the best defensive line in the league. This is a fact. Gregg Rosenthal is biased AF. Click bait article anyways. Seriously the bucs? We have four pro-bowlers and a hall of famer. fug OUTTA HEAYAH

So there is the one advantage for TB. One backup DE. Great. How about the rest?

If TB signs Hardy, they would shoot past us at light speed.

TB is already ahead of us.  We need Hardy to shoot past them.

There are other rose colored takes there too-McCoy was a Pro Bowler last year and has simply been better, and for longer, than KK, period.

People here and homers everywhere need a reality check.  I’ve been saying this for awhile.

KK is good with the potential to be great but not elite or a future HOFer and probably overrated by most Panther fans.

Look, I've been saying since last decade that The Huddle is full of blinded homers who seem like they have a poor grasp of football, but Kawann Short is one of the best interior linemen in the league. "Potential to be great" is way underselling someone who has been universally considered top-tier for like 3+ years now.

I have few issues with KK.  I’m a fan.  We can play on words all day-good, great, elite, etc. but the fact is his presence alone doesn’t automatically put us in the top 8 of this list.  There are better DTs-not many-but there are.

I could easily argue our case against TB.

KK/MCCOY- wash

Poe/ Vea- slight edge to Poe simply because we know he can play at this level.

Now, those two “proven” pass rushers only had 12 sacks combined last year. Addison and Pep had 11 each. Plus Horton had 5.5 in only 36% of the snaps. JPP played 3x as many snaps and only had 8.5. And Horton was our best edge setter. Add in the addition by subtraction of getting rid of CJ is big. Also, Star regressed badly over the last two years. Poe is a major upgrade at this point of their careers.

 Where is their advantages?

I wasn't saying that they were better than the Panthers, in fact, I predicted in another post that we would end up top 5.  I just meant that their D-line was not a joke. Poor McCoy has been having to do it all himself for a long time, and they finally got him some help. I think our core is strong with Pepp, Addison and Horton, but the fact remains that were putting a lot of hope in 2 DE's that have yet to record a stat.

Didn’t mean any of that towards you. My apologies. Just needed the article you posted to compare. I was agreeing with you.

Too many question marks for me to rank them in the top ten

How will the loss of Star affect the players around him?

Can Poe be better than Star was?

Is this the year age finally catches up with Pep?

What happens to our outside pass rush if Mario or Pep get injured?

Is Vernon Butler worth his first round pick?  Can Wes Horton rush the passer?  Is Daeshon Hall capable of contributing?

Well, earlier in this thread you proclaimed Donald and Cox as elite DTs. KK wpas a ring below. I was assuming McCoy was at least in that tier, or did he just become elite for agenda purposes? And by the “better, longer” theory, we just opened a huge gap between  Poe and Vea. Vea hasn’t even played. With the solid edge at DE that I showed earlier, and you have conveniently ignored, and at worst a push at DT, I’m failing to see how thinking we deserve that spot as much as TB did is a “homer” who needs a reality check. From the “FREE GREG HARDY!” committee chairmen, that’s hilarious.

Five DT’s from the NFC alone made the Pro Bowl in the 2017/2018 season, including McCoy of course (his 6th).  Calling it a wash with KK is a major, best case, stretch.  #facts, no offense to KK.

We all hope Vea is a bust and Poe’s back among other things holds up, but what are the odds?  I don’t feel great about either.

Pumping sack numbers from last year is fool’s gold at DE.  We simply don’t have an every down DE at or near his prime, and scheme wise, that’s a major problem.  Curry himself is a far better run stopper than anybody we have at DE.

Vita Vea is a glorified Star Lotulelei at best.

McCoy = Short. Except McCoy's talent is being wasted with sub-par talent surrounding him all these years.

JPP is as washed as Charles Johnson is.

Vinny Curry is bleh. Decent, but no better than Addison.

Carolina's depth >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tampas and it's not even close.
