Safety Brandon Bryant, Mississippi State, “physical marvel”, another Supplemental Draft option

The guy's dad died in a motorcycle accident after his awesome freshman year. He had a sophomore slump n didn't play the last 3 games because he questioned if football was something he rly wanted to do. He had a bounceback junior year and was expected to come back and be a cornerstone for his senior year.

Beal and Alexander might get picked in the middle to late rounds.  This guy will probably go through all 7 rounds.

Earlier I thought they might go higher but I don't think teams have the opportunity to do their homework and don't want to risk losing the opportunity of a solid player in round 1-3.   Also some teams will avoid these players because they had poor grades in school.   Whether that is a good or bad approach to a player, it happens.

That said, I think we have a good opportunity to sign anyone of them if they fall through.   All three are a position of need and can sell to them that they have the opportunity to make the team.  Plus we are a solid team that can possibly win the Super Bowl.

You mean like our franchise QB?

Good call...

Uh, yeah, exactly like our franchise QB. Cam commited a serious crime and he was lucky he wasn’t more severely punished. It certainly looks like he learned from his mistake. And big surprise that abother SEC team took him back with open arms

Take a look at that UF team that Cam was on, A LOT of choir boys. Percy Harvin, Aaron Hernandez, the Pouncey bros, Janoris jenkins, Will Hill, Riley Cooper, etc. Who knows how much BS those players were getting away with and had the problems covered up. Cam was probably just trying to fit in with the delinquents and criminal culture of UF Gator football under Urban Meyer.

Isn't buying stolen goods what he was charged with?  I wouldn't say that's a serious crime.  Dumb sure,  but he was 18 years old.

He knowingly purchased a stolen laptop then tried to ditch it when the cops came knocking. He did not steal it.

Dick move and stupid? Yes.

Serious Crime? Nah.

I'd save the label of 'serious crime' for something violent like assault or carries a heavy sentence, like drug trafficking.

And Cam is the perfect example of you have to evaluate each player, individually, instead of grouping them altogether with an ignorant blanket statement.

It would have been simpler to just say “I hate the SEC”.

    • So we cut him if we don't give him the option?  I'm pretty sure there are players who didn't get the 5th-year option that played year four of their rookie contracts with their draft team.
    • I didn't say do nothing if we don't draft one in the 1st and I"m not counting on a FA to magically become a franchise QB. But signing a FA to be our starter for the year and then re-address the next offseason would be FAR better than reaching on the wrong QB in the 1st this offseason. Feeling we HAVE to find our long term solution just because we need a new QB is how we got into this mess.  We thought Two Gloves would be at worst an average level QB for a few years, that didn't happen, so we went out and traded for Darnold.  That didn't work so we went out and traded for Baker, that didn't work so we went out and traded up to get Bryce. Our last 4 QB moves were all trying to force a solution, none of them worked out, and we're still trying to find Cam's replacement all these years later.  We'd just have been better off spending a year or two building up the rest of the team and going year to year on FA QB's while doing so.  I get it, it will be frustrating to deal with, but then when you find that actual long term solution, they plug right into an already built out roster and you're ready to contend immediately.
    • Great win, should be 3-0 but I'll take 2-1. LaMelo is an MVP caliber player, period.   This is looking like an incredible draft so far. Sion James looking like the exact type of role player that all contending teams need to have, absolute steal in the 2nd. Kalk is a work in progress and I question how much upside he has but he's already been a considerable upgrade at C for us compared to the last several years (outside of healthy Mark which of course was rare).   Really seems like new ownership/front office has change the culture here significantly. Every guy looks bought in now.
