I think his agent felt sorry for him and made up that excuse instead of saying Hurney thought Ryan would suck as a head coach.

Ryan was at his hottest as a head coaching prospect right at the time the Panthers job came open.

Since then, he's fallen off the map so much that he wound up working for his brother.  Now they're both out of football.

I'd say we were probably his last shot. Now, pretty safe to say it's not gonna happen.
