I get it

im more down on Shaq than Funch

I'm not necessarily down on Shaq, I just don't think he's worth anywhere near the almost $10M he's going to hit us for next season. He's basically a JAG. He had the perfect audition opportunity during TD's suspension to show what he could do and... well, it wasn't much. He's not a bad guy to have on your roster, but he's not a guy you pay $10M.

We’ve seen Funchess ceiling, time to take the L and get another prospect in here who plays up to there size and can remember simple coaching given out in pop Warner football, like playing the ball at its highest point or turning into a defender whenever the QB throws a bad pass simple stuff

If Funchess always played at or close his ceiling I'd be all about hanging onto him. The problem isn't his ceiling, it's his floor and aside from last season, the rest of his career has been spent a lot closer to his floor than his ceiling.

Look at the date of original post.

Thank you, I was about to lose faith in the huddle.

I wouldn't be surprised if we draft another bigger WR.aybe not another jumbo receiver but a classic "big" WR. A 6'2"ish or so guy. Riley Ridley would fit nicely.

I totally agree.  With our other needs I don't see using an early pick on one but maybe 3rd-5th round.  I could signing a cheap vet that fits that mold also.

Basically, the inconsistency is maddening with Funchess

He's pretty consistent. Unfortunately, he's pretty consistently bad. Last year was an anomaly and that sucks, because I thought he showed some really promising development. But it certainly looks like that was just a plain fluke.

A team has given Funchess $10 million guaranteed following an expedited fall from the active roster last season. We should have unloaded him for draft capital. An extra pick sure is needed with all of these glaring holes we need to fill.

Hindsight's 20/20. Devin possibly doing well in contract year was a much safer bet than another team valuing him that highly.

    • He didn’t disappoint in the first round. In fact if you had bothered to look at the chart I posted he was the #1 goalie in goals saved above expected for the first round. Not a predictor of the future but at least give the man a little credit bro.
    • If XL has 1,000 yards and 10 TDs, then Thielen missed a lot of games and T-Mac either also did or he was more of a bust than XL was as a rookie last year. There's no logical path to him putting up those kind of numbers as our 3rd receiving option unless that happens.  XL can have an outstanding season for us but still not be a good player on fantasy rosters, as it's a big difference between us trying to have him as our #1 WR last year vs #3 this year.   Which is why I was looking at a possible 50/600/5 type of stat line, as if he does that while cutting down on his drops, while it will be a similar stat line as his rookie year, it will still be an improvement on his play and a good sign for his chances as our future #2 next to T-Mac. I'm in a 12 person league with 2 flex spots and a deep bench, usually will see around 60-65 WRs drafted, and I'd be genuinely surprised to see XL get taken this season. In fact, I could see a scenario where Coker is a more valuable fantasy player than XL this season, even in the event that XL has an improved season.  As I think XL is going to have that type of season where he has huge ups and downs from a box score perspective, where as Coker could be a more steady 3-4 catch for 30-40 yards every week type of season and would be a higher floor if you need a spot start at WR (at least in a PPR).
