It's possible, but if you read all of his statements about Charlotte closely, you'll see that he's really more likely to bring MLS here. I don't know if he would be interested in triple-dipping either once he owns both an NFL team and MLS club.

MLS is a given, I’m just thinking ahead

That was mine, and up till this morning there wasn't. Though I do remember thinking yesterday "Watch me post this and us hire one tomorrow" :)

With that said, outside of Darlington and Gantt quoting Darlington, there's still no talk about this from any of the reporters who cover the Panthers or any of the national guys like Rapoport.

I assume someone will say something soon.

I agree that's odd. Usually one sports reporter tweets something and a cavalcade of "Yes, this is true/I've heard this too" tweets from other sports journalists quickly follow. An hour of total silence from other journos is weird. Either Darlington got a hell of a scoop that nobody else had a whiff of, or it's not true.

What, if any impact, would this have on Hurney and the GM role?? I assume he wouldn't actually be a GM of any kind but wondering what kind of influence and interaction the two roles would have.

Depends.

If he follows the same model as the Panthers previously did, little to none.

Team President was strictly a business position under Danny Morrison and Mark Richardson. We've heard some general whispers about the possibility of the position being different now, but no solid information.

I imagine if it's confirmed that Glick is the guy, we'll also hear something about his role.

Keep in mind that our beat writers are terrible. The probably forgot all about the new president position.

Marty Hurney and Tom Glick don't match up in any way shape or form if you're an outsider looking in. Tom Glick is a Big Money/Big Franchise hire, while Marty Hurney is a Small Money/Small Franchise hire. That's not even being disrespectful to Marty, but his resume is what it is.

I don't think Hurney will be here after the season unless we win the Super Bowl, honestly maybe not even then.

It would be an excellent business decision on his part. Although MLS is almost unwatchable

You better tell that to the 70,000+ fans down in Atlanta that show up to watch United play....just sayin' that the MLS is doing better than ever.  Atlanta United is killing it and I bet Arthur Blank is loving it.  Tepper knows what he's doing.  He has a long term vision for Charlotte.
