lol, who is Vic Beasley? Oh just the guy that led the league in sacks last year.... yeah I think hes their best defensive player.

Beasley had like 6 sacks last year and is useless against the run and in coverage...

Over Jones and Trufant? What are you smoking man?

Easily over Trufant.

And, considering this is the "Seattle" defense that Atlanta runs, yes, the SS that can play in the box *and* play in coverage is more important than the MLB to that defense.  He's the straw that stirs that drink.

I just want to beat teams. Don't really care about them being full strength

I never understood this way of thinking. Who cares what shape the opponent is in. Do folks actually believe the opponent cares whether or not we are 100%. Especially in the NFL where injuries are a fact of life. Football is a team sport. If your team cannot compete because of losing a guy or two. Too damm bad. Put together a better team.

That said. IF we lose Cam. That would be different.

Im actually going to defend him here.

Yes Vic is probably the most talented player on that D.

BUT Neal makes the biggest imact.

He made that D go from avg to Good.  Beasley was already on that roster but Atlanta's defense did t take the step forward until Neal got there.

He made the Probowl in his 2nd season there.

When Beasley has been out or Trufant has been out due to injuries.  The D still went on and didnt lose much of a beat like the difference with Neal out if that lineup

Neal is strictly a box safety. He can't cover at all, he gets burned routinely and gets a ton of penalties in coverage/down the field. So yeah he helps them in run defense, and he makes plays on the ball, which is solid to have but that's all he can do.

That defense is similar to ours and it runs entirely through the front 7. Seahawks also had a ton of talent in their secondary, hence the legendary couple of years they had but their front 7 was the glue, and same thing in ATL. Trufant is a legit shutdown corner and is easily their best defensive player. And while Jones is nowhere near as good as Colinsworth slobbering over him would make one think, he is solid against the run and one of the best cover LBs in the game right now. Way better and more important than Neal.

I don't know what you're talking about, he's their BEST defensive player.

Deion Jones and Grady Jarrett are the two best players on the Falcons defense...Keanu is 3rd. 100+ tackles in both of first two seasons and 8 FF (more FF than any secondary player in NFL history for their first 2 seasons). Falcons have good depth in the secondary though.

I saw him try to come back in last night. I thought he tore it the first time. Prayers up for a speedy recovery.

I saw that too. When he got hurt again, I was sitting there thinking, " Who the hell let him back in in the first place?"

Hope for a speedy recovery (the human thing to do) but I'm sure no one is worrying over our losses.

Depth in the secondary? That's allowed? Someone let the Panthers know
