Will we even miss Thomas Davis

1.  First of all .. the level of disrespect for someone who has played well for a long long time here is crazy.  TD should be missed even after he is replaced.  Just like Steve Smith was missed, etc.

2. Shaq played well , hopefully he continues to play that way and hold the position for the foreseable future.   I see no reason for TD to "take the spot back" if Shaq is playing well now.

3. TD is still probably a little better than Shaq based on experience, however being on his last year of contract and us needing to see what Shaq can provide moving forward so TD's suspension I think will end up being a blessing in disguise.

4. Having TD as a reliable backup is nothing but good at the moment.  Especially the way the injury thing is working it's way around.

I have to honestly admit I'm ready to move on from any and all of ol' Jerry's fambly favorites.

fug that, JR has nothing to do with TD. TD is a Panthers legend and one of the best people in the history of the league. Slowing down yes but still extremely useful in a lesser role and leadership position.

It was nice to see him get a full role so the people in here who thought he was a bad pick realized how good he is.

Just to add, this again speaks to Ron and his love of vets. Shaq was solid last year even though all everyone remembers was not getting Kamara down. Maybe Shaq should have been in place over Davis last year. Same with Larsen over Ryan, Moton over Matt. My niece over Amini.

What you are others who keep repeating this don't seem to get is that rookies, jags and other players who are forced into duty due to injury need time to develop. Shaq for example wasn't that good as late as last year. He got burned in coverage numerous times and wasn't where he needed to be much of the time. The difference between this year and earlier in the career is almost day and night. He is a beast this year and rightfully deserves to start. Up to this year he wasn't. Reminds me of Thomas Davis when he came into the league or Josh Norman. They needed time to develop. The only guy I will give you is Amini. I don't know why he plays. Still blame his position coach not Rivera who is in charge of developing him and deciding who places in what position. As head coach you aren't making those decisions on a weekly basis

I’ve been thinking the same...Kalils, Amini, Olsen, TD, Funchess, Captain, Peppers (although Pep can stay :)) probably all gone after this year.

Also, Rivera, Hurney but that’s another thread.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
