The bigger issue was the timeout that had to be burned earlier in that drive due to the play clock winding down.

Later in the year, if we're still seeing that, yes, it's a concern.  First game of the year with a new OC?  I'm not as worried.

I think we're all still a little traumatized by the past few years of Shula.

Oh so after cam spiked it, it was 4th down, the board wasn’t updated it read 3rd down when the field goal was kicked.

still want to see this team be able to get a TD in that situation. It could have very easily been the game.

Yea folks at home probably took his decision better than we did in the stadium. We all thought it was 3rd down after the spike and didn't understand why he let so much time go by before spiking. Was hoping for a quick shot at the end zone then take the field goal next play if it was incomplete. All that being said, I trust the guy who's job it is to lead a pro NFL offense more than I trust all the self proclaimed experts watching the game as fans (me included)

No, we did indeed kick the FG on 3rd down. We had 1st and 10 at the DAL 14, got an offsides to make it 1st and 5 at the DAL 9, Cam scrambled for no gain to make it 2nd and 5, then we spiked the ball to make it 3rd and 5 and kicked the FG. It was nonsensical. Clearly had enough time to spike, take a shot on 3rd down, and kick the FG on 4th down. It was a poorly managed situation by either Cam, the staff, or both. Thankfully it didn't bite us in the ass.

This was what I was originally thinking. No reason to not take a shot on 3rd down, 5 yards to go. Not run it of course but if a quick pass fails, no biggie kick the FG. Can would have to know he cannot under any circumstance take a sack and throw it away if there was no for sure TD.

If Dallas would have scored again and got another 2 point conversion, that’s a tie game and potential loss.

Panthers need better timeout management and killer instinct.

But 7 seconds seems enough to at least try one quick slant, shot for the endzone and then easy try for FG if not on 4th down.

We had 5ish (?) yards to go...really wanted to see a killer instinct there from the staff.

There were like 20 seconds, waited til :07 to hike and spike. Still had to kick it off, probably should have waited to :03.

I would have rather had the touchdown, but we wouldn't have even been in that situation of being desperate for the end zone if we hadn't turned the ball over on the 3 yard line previously. Think Cam gets a pass for a turnover there? Yet all this hand wringing over a field goal? This fanbase geesh.
