If the above posts stopped at "good" we could have a discussion. "Hall of Famer" and "better than Aikman" make me hope these guys being sarcastic.

Great quarterbacks don't choke in the playoffs.

Scot come on man you can't really be that simple. Romo's career playoff passer rating is 93. That's better than Brady's. Numbers aren't everything but Romo is not at all a choker in the playoffs. Romo is just like Marino he got royally fuged by having a horsesh*t team around him for his whole career, it's a team sport and wins reflect the team, NOT the QB. Romo would've won 5 or more SBs in NE if he was there instead of Brady. Jerry Jones wasted Romo's career with crappy teams but that's not on Romo. And he will be a hall of famer, without a doubt, whether you want to come to terms with that or not.

Was Dan Marino not a great QB?

Tell me you did not just use passer rating to stack Tony Romo up next to Tom Brady...

Oy.

You know who for a long time had one of the best postseason passer ratings in history?

Jake Delhomme.

Yes, and not because of his stats. And well he doesn't have a Superbowl ring, Marino played in the Super Bowl are a pretty young age and played well.

Romo was just not a clutch QB.

What are you talking about? Marino was terrible in the playoffs.  He threw more INTs than TDs in that Super Bowl with a 66 QB Rating.  If you’re gonna call Romo a playoff choker, then how was Marino not one?

Romo was excellent in his last playoff run.  Are you really gonna blame him for losing to Aaron Rodgers?

Romo also had 29 game winning drives.  He was plenty clutch. I r

Romo botched a snap as a holder one time in the playoffs and his entire career was defined by it. Not fair to him in the slightest considering he was the active leader in Game winning drives and 4Q comebacks while he was still playing, but people only remember the fumbled extra point. If we never win a SB with Cam at the helm, would you call it fair for everyone to claim Cam was a creampuff based on not jumping on the fumble in the super bowl? I wouldn't.

Dude only made it to the playoffs like 3 times and played well each time. All the rest of the years the team around him was straight doo doo because of Jones.

How many of those came in the playoffs?

(we know it wasn't a significant number because Romo didn't make the playoffs very much)

Lemme flip the question on you. How great a quarterback is Matt Stafford?

Matt Stafford is pretty regularly ranked high in a lot of statistical categories. He also throws a really nice looking pass. The problem? When the pressure is on he wilts like a flower in the desert. In a big game, you don't want your fate in the hands of this guy, no matter how high his passer rating stat might be.

Basically, if Tony Romo is a great quarterback, then so is Matt Stafford.

Stafford is also a great QB. Not his fault the Lions haven't had a RB run for over 100 yards in 69 straight games. Kind of hard to be a successful completely one dimensional team...

Also Stafford is clutch AF are you kidding? Dude has 32 Game winning drives and he's only 30. He constantly Balls out at the end of games to win there's an entire meme based around his ability to make a comeback and beat you.

    • Hello, soccer fans [crickets, tumbleweed flies by]. The World Cup kicks off in less than 2 weeks and, well, 🇺🇸USA USA USA🇺🇸 and all. We beat Senegal 3-2 yesterday in a tune-up friendly at BoA, with Christian Pulisic finally entering the scoring column.  How will we do in the World Cup once our tournament kicks off on the 12th? Well, there are 48 teams (assuming Iran is there) and it feels like one of two thing happens: we get grouped for the first time since '98, or we make it to the Round of 16 for the third time in the last four World Cups. I tried out the lottery for an Atlanta game and struck out, so yesterday was as World Cup as I'll get for in-person ($285/ticket for like Norway vs $39/ticket for USMNT right beforehand was a layup).  The U.S. has a travel-heavy schedule in group play, playing in LA, Seattle and LA. Real road warrior mentality being built. Glad the east coast gets worse kickoff times for a NA World Cup than a Qatar World Cup.
    • Well, that's the thing. Drafting players only for their physical measurables as you are suggesting only really happened during 2024, and X unfortunately has become the poster child for that. To be clear, it's not necessarily about drafting RAS over skill, but RAS over NFL-readiness and/or a solid body of work. Lots of players show skill in college, but those skills don't necessarily translate to the NFL for a multitude of reasons. But, getting back to the main point, to be clear, I believe that our FO is still enamored with physical gifts (who wouldn't be?), but now they're letting Dr. Eric Eager's proprietary system--his "secret sauce" prioritize the players that the Panthers draft, and it seems like it weighs not only a solid body of work, relative to a college career of course, but consistent gradual improvement as evidenced by production pretty highly.
    • Its a good article about how pathetically bad our past drafts ('23 and '24) have been. Building the team in '23 since we weren't ready yet and taking your qb in '24 made so much more sense in hindsight. Ladd McConkey over XL is pretty much a given but not sure it does as much to change Bryce's trajectory as the author suggests.  As bad as '23 and '24 drafts were, the '25 and '26 really give me hope.
