Sean Payton and Steve Wilks are high on the list of next coach to be fired according to Vegas. The only other Rivera coordinator to get a job was Chud and we saw how that worked out in Cleveland.

Can we draw any conclusions about Ron Rivera from this or do you think this is just a coincidence?

Sean Payton is the head coach for New Orleans and has won a super bowl.

Sean McDermott is the head coach for Buffalo.

I can see why Steve Wilks could be on the hot seat if his team continues to play poorly, but did the article say why Sean Payton is on the list? If the Saints beat Atlanta this week they could possibly be in first place (if Tampa loses) heading into game 4.

Or, did you accidentally type Payton instead of McDermott?

this is not unheard of good coordinator dont always make great head coaches, look at the Bill Belichick and his coordinators.

Good point. Wade Phillips is one of the best DEFENSIVE coordinators in the NFL and has been for years. No knowledgeable football fan will dispute that. But, his head coaching resume has been mediocre/average at best.

This may not be a popular opinion, but this is confirmation for me that the real brains and motivation behind our defense is Rivera. I believe he let's his DCs add their own flavor, but our defense succeeds and fails on Rivera's command.

It's Rivera's team. And the fact that three former coordinators are struggling to put together even a mediocre team is credit to Rivera's genius. Don't get me wrong, I know he makes stupid decisions in time management and which players to start on a given Sunday. I know he struggles to get his players motivated for the start of the season and after bye weeks at times. But I daresay he's the best coach we've had in our 24 seasons as a franchise.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
